We Need Help Again … What's Going on?
Wed., Apr. 30. 2014 11:40pm EDT
In case you missed our appeal letter on April 24, here's what it said:
J. Jackson, lead singer and lyricist for ApologetiX here.
In January, I shared my vision for 2014 with our fans in our newsletter:
"I feel compelled to put out as much music as I can this year. Over the years, I've written many more parodies than we've been able to record. I believe this is the time to get it recorded and out there. I believe God has given us some very powerful songs to share."
I also said that I wanted to make more music available on a donation basis whenever possible.
A third of the year is almost over. Creatively, it's been a great success. Financially, we need help.
CREATIVE
We've released 10 tracks thus far, but we've actually finished 20, and should have 22 by April's end. And half of those feature lyrics I just got recently.
I had a crazy dream of us finishing 50 this year; we're on a pace for 66! I don't know what our final total will be, but God provides new lyrics each week.
I'm very pleased with the lyrics, topics, performances, and production. He's given us an incredible team, including alumni, family, and friends.
Every download has been available for a donation of any size, which makes the music affordable for everybody.
I encourage anyone who gets our downloads to share them with others. They're meant to reach the lost and teach the rest. Use them!
FINANCIAL
You'd think we'd get a great response to such a great deal. Actually, only one half of one percent of fans are taking advantage of it.
Some fans are waiting till we release CDs. We do have plans for multiple CDs, but each has specialized themes and genres, so we need to wait till other tracks are done. The CDs will contain songs from the donation downloads plus many other tracks that won't be released as singles.
In the meantime, we still have to pay the folks who perform on and produce these recordings. While we're recording, we can't tour as much, but we can reach many more people and places through recordings.
We do need to tour some to help pay the bills, though. Our bus needs inspected by the end of this month, and it'll need work to make it roadworthy.
Bus repairs are costly, and there are many other business expenses involved in maintaining a full-time ministry that currently supports six families with 18 kids.
I estimate we'll need $17,500 in the next two weeks to keep us current. That doesn't count the fact that the band is still two months behind on my paychecks.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
I've shared my vision. Would you like to share in it? Any of these four things would help:
1. Pray (it's free, but it's priceless)
2. Get our CDs, songbook, or downloads at apologetix.com/store
3. Donate online at: apologetix.com/store/store-donate.php
4. Donate by check payable to "ApologetiX" and sent to ApologetiX, 208 Charlemma Drive, Pittsburgh PA 15214-1414
This email goes out to all of our fans, so please don't fret if you can't give. God will provide. We're just making our needs known.
