Make sure you read the intro to this week's newsletter before reading this article. Here's an excerpt the follow-up email we mentioned from Pastor Josh:Thank you for giving such a great show. I don't know how many people were touched at the concert last night, but I know my family was, so thank you.
There is something else that I wanted to share with you that you might find cool. I was sharing this with my wife just a few weeks ago and she thought it was funny. Because I have been listening to your music for so long, there are certain CD's that define certain periods in my life. When I listen to them, they bring back very strong memories.
For instance, Adam Up came out the year I got married. The first time I listened to it, I was on a trip to Boston with my wife, and I will never forget that. I listened to Wordplay for the first time on my way to candidate for my first pastoral position. Recovery came out not long after I moved to Arkansas, and so listening to that brings up a feeling of hope and excitement at what God might do.
Perhaps one of the most memorable was Soundproof. The first time I listened to Soundproof, my family and I were driving to a pumpkin patch to pick pumpkins. Things had not been going well for us. We were at a very low point. We got to the pumpkin patch, thinking that the money that we had would be enough for us to pick some pumpkins with the children and have a good time, only to find out that the cost just to get in was more than we had.
We bought a few small gourds from a display that they had outside and left very upset and frustrated. That is kind of a sad memory, and yet I consider the song choices on that CD -- so many songs about God's provision, especially "It's All in God's Control." When I listen to that CD today, I remember both the frustration and the comfort.
I just want you to realize that when I say that your ministry has had an impact on my life, there is a sense in which it has walked with me every step of the way. I am so glad you are still making music, and I pray for you daily. I wish I could do more to support your ministry, and I hope others that can do so will.
In the meantime, I will continue to pray for you. I am already looking forward to the next concert I can make it to, as are my kids.
In Christ,
