Current APX Keyboardist Moving to Florida
Thu., Oct. 1. 2015 9:00am EDT
We're sad to report that current ApologetiX keyboardist Chris VonBartheld, "the Long Island Liberace," will be moving to Palm Harbor FL (near Tampa, St. Petersburg, and Clearwater) with his wife and two sons at the end of October. We've known this was a possibility for a while now, but Chris was not certain until this week.
Consequently, he will no longer be regularly touring with ApologetiX after October, although he will still be available to play on recordings when needed, since he can send us his parts.
"I always thought I'd end up in Florida," he says. "That was actually my plan before I took a little side trip to Pennsylvania. But it has been my honor to be part of the history of this ministry. It's hard for me to walk away from that.
"I can't say enough how much being part of ApologetiX has meant to me. vIt brought back passion about playing again. The fellowship and laughter were probably even more important.
"I don't know what God has in store for me as far as ministry. I hope to stay active as an alumnus now as far as recording when called upon. Once you're APX, it's hard to shake."
Chris played his first official concert with ApologetiX in Cherry Tree PA on June 22, 2013, but actually started traveling with the band on May 17, 2013, while Todd was still playing keyboards for us. His last official show will be October 24 in Green Bay WI.
Having been both a worship leader and a pastor at local churches here in Pittsburgh, Chris is hoping to find a position at a church in the St. Pete/Clearwater/Tampa area. If you are reading this and know of a church which may have interest, please contact Chris at kosmicjustice@comcast.net.
We hope to have Chris write a farewell letter to the fans at the end of the month. In the meantime, you can still see him in concert with us in Gainesville VA (October 3), York PA (October 16), and Green Bay WI (October 24). But hurry -- he's going fast!
