Pastoring with Parodies in Pennsylvania
Tue., Jan. 25. 2005 3:01pm EST
We love it when we hear that our parodies have helped people with their personal Bible study. It's a double bonus when a pastor tells us he's used our parodies to help his congregation with their Bible study! Here's a great email we just received regarding that from a pastor in PA:
"Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
"I wanted to thank God for giving you the creativity in writing your lyrics to the parodies. God has allowed me to use some of your songs for inspiration for my sermons. Last summer, I preached a series on the book of Esther. Your song 'Suffering Just Finished' was the basis for doing that study.
"In early November, I was reading the book of Ruth in my devotions and the Lord challenged me to do a sermon series on that book. During Thanksgiving week, I bought your New and Used CD and I heard "Naomi Gonna Be With Ruth" for the first time. God used that song to confirm my sermon series, which I will begin on Jan. 23.
"God has also allowed me to use your songs to help teach my children the Word of God. Sometimes, I feel like Philip with the Ethiopian eunuch teaching my children the Biblical account of your songs i.e. 'Jacob's Name is Israel.' It really gives me great joy as a dad and pastor to use your songs as a vehicle to share the Word of God with them.
"Again, thanks for you and the band's hard work. May God continue to bless your ministry."
In Christ,
Pastor Lee
