What's New on the New CD?

After hearing our new Xit Ego Lopa CD, Dave Smith of Traverse City MI asked the following question:Is the version of "Ha-Bakk" (the parody of "Get Back" by The Beatles) on the new CD different than the one on the Orchard Avenue downloads (from 2012)? Because it sounds really great! :) The other version is good too, but the new one sounds fantastic! Dave wasn't the only one to ask. It is the same version, but Bill Hubauer did remaster all of the tracks for this CD, so that's why it would sound better.
Another song on the new CD will sound significantly different than the single version, though. We added some new guitars to "Show Us the Way," our parody of "Go All the Way" by The Raspberries. We think you'll find that it sounds much more like the original now.
There are actually a number of songs we've released as singles over the past few years that we tweaked for their album versions, including "Calling Dr. Luke," "Talk and I'll Walk," "Talking Inner Peace," "Desperate Queen," "Holy Land," and "Makes Me Cranky." We're surprised more people haven't noticed.
Some others that are less noticeable include "Dweebs," "Don't Tell Me We're Lucky," and "You Give Up on Bad Days." We wouldn't expect anybody to notice those ones, but they are slightly different.
If you followed rock and roll in the 60's-80's or if you're a fan of music from that era, you may already be aware that there are many big hits that have album versions that are different than the single version. And we don't just mean songs that were longer on the album than they were on the single, like "My Sharona" by The Knack or "Don't Fear (the Reaper)" by Blue Oyster Cult.
For some good examples of what we're talking about, compare the single and album versions of Eddie Money's "Two Tickets to Paradise" sometime. Or "Joy to the World" by Three Dog Night. Or "Get Back" by The Beatles. Hey, isn't that where we started this article?
