The Stories Behind Our Next Single

J. Jackson, lead singer and lyricst from ApologetiX here again.
Despite all that fuss above about all those old lyrics we've used over the years, the majority of the parodies we've released this year were written recently, and the songs on our next single are no exception.
One song deals with Jesus' answers to the Pharisees and the Sadducees when they tried to trip Him up. I wrote the first half in early 2016 and was very excited about it, but I got a little bit of writer's block and we didn't have the right guys available to record it at the time, so I set it aside for a season.
Now we have the proper personnel in place, and I finally finished it on a recent visit to my in-laws' in Kentucky. On that same trip, God gave me all of the lyrics for the other song on our next single. It was a great vacation anyway, but working on (and finishing) those songs made the 12-hour drive each way even more enjoyable.
That second song discusses Jesus' encounter with a woman with a flow of blood (Matthew 9:18-22, Mark 5:24-34, Luke 8:41-48) who touched his cloak and got healed on a crowded road while He was on His way to heal (actually to resurrect, although the people didn't know it at the time) a synagogue ruler's daughter.
That lady's blood flow was no mere inconvenience. The New Geneva Study Bible says this in its notes on Mark 5:25: "The woman's condition was not only physically debilitating but disqualified her not only from marriage (Lev. 20:18), but from religious life in general (Lev. 15:25-33)." But it didn't disqualify her from Jesus.
He said to her, "Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering" (Mark 5:34). As I mentioned in a newsletter in 2016, though Jesus was en route to heal the daughter of a person who was elite in the eyes of the public (a synagogue ruler), He referred to a common person as daughter (i.e. God's daughter).
I finished the vocals to that one in a marathon session on Tuesday; it almost took longer to sing than it did to write! I'm scheduled to sing the vocals to the other song next Tuesday, and we plan to release the single next weekend, Lord willing.
But just because we skipped a weekend where we usually have a single doesn't mean we don't have something else planned. Rumor has it there's a new ApologetiX CD in the works ...
