Darnell Cline: Encouragement from Other ApX Fans
Sat., Jul. 10. 2021 3:06pm EDT
In 2 Corinthians 1:3-4, the Apostle Paul says, "Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God."
We saw that in action this week when longtime ApX fan Pastor Sheryl Campbell in Arizona emailed us in response to our recent series of articles requesting prayer for ApX fan Sonja Cline in Ohio, regarding her husband, Darnell, who has been battling severe complications from COVID, which he contracted in early May.
Sheryl went through a similar situation with her husband, Mike, a year ago (he is now 99 percent recovered) and offered her prayers, empathy, and wisdom on the matter. We asked if she would be willing to talk to Sonja, too, if Sonja was open to that that. Both Sheryl and Sonja were very enthusiastic about that idea, and they spoke on Friday. Here's an update we received from Sonja later that day:
I just talked to Sheryl this afternoon. She is the loveliest sister! And PTL for her husband's protection and healing! I look so forward to keeping in touch!
Update on Darnell: He had kind of a rough one today because he had dialysis. To make matters worse, they stopped his prescription-strength acid-reflux medication for some reason and, of course, that made him sick. Fortunately, they added it back on and gave it to him before I left so I was very thankful.
One of my major concerns right now is that awful ulcer on his bottom. It's hideous, and yesterday they left it completely bare with no bandage for hours. I'm not sure if they meant to do that or not but that wound doesn't look like it should be exposed.
Anyway, I didn't get to spend a lot of time with him today, because we're having a deck with a ramp built and installing two front doors on our mobile home, and today they are doing the doors, so I had to come home early.
On the positive, he's doing great without the trach, and he slept all night long without having to use the BiPAP machine! Also, his kidney doctor has temporarily removed him from dialysis. His numbers are looking a lot better, and she wants to see how he does without dialysis. Please pray he does great!
Much love from the Cline household!
One day at a time,
Sonja and Darnell We praise the Lord for the progress Darnell is making (and Mike has already made) and for the encouragement Sheryl was willing and able to provide to Sonja. And we continue to pray for Darnell and Sonja.
