CVB of ApX Needs Much Prayer
Sat., Dec. 4. 2021 2:20pm EST
As we mentioned in our last two newsletters, ApX alum keyboardist Chris VonBartheld contacted us on November 19 to say he had COVID and to ask for prayer. He was admitted to the hospital on November 22, and his situation is very serious. His wife, Brandi, has continued to post updates on Facebook this week, and we'll share the latest ones with you below.
WEDNESDAY
"They are venting him and said he has a 20% chance now of coming off the vent ;( My God is a miracle worker."
THURSDAY
"They said that they put him in prone position (on belly) — his oxygen did go into 90's — they could bring the vented O2 down today. which allows him to rest and his O2 stayed in the 90's. They did have to essentially paralyze him, because he was fighting the ventilator, but they said today was the best O2 he has had the entire time.
"They had him on belly for 16 hours, and they are putting on his back 8hrs and then back to prone since it is working. They said that this doesn't mean he isn't still very sick, but this is showing that his body is responding. Please keep praying. I know he can make it through this. His other vitals are doing well. He had some kidney stuff, but they said they have him on more fluids to help flush and more antibiotics to help him get better."
FRIDAY
"He did well on prone again last night. They turned him back over on his back this morning about 7 a.m. His oxygen is still at 90%. They were able to drop vent to 80% (lowest it has been), and they are giving him some more nutrition to try to get him stronger. They are also going to try to ween him off the paralytic today — since he is doing well maintaining the oxygen — and see how he does."
SATURDAY
He was taken off paralytic yesterday at 12 p.m. and has been fine and tolerated 16 hours prone again, and the vent is still down to 80%. Kidney doctor is in to check his kidneys, and I asked for him to be off Remdesivir to the kidney doctor directly. His BP was a little low last night, but it's doing ok today. All else is fine — holding steady in 90's for O2. Keep praying, please! Jesus is a miracle worker!!"
We told Brandi we were keeping our fans updated about Chris and asking for their prayers on his behalf. She replied, "Thank you. That would mean the world to him; ApX was his fav."
