Update on J.'s Daughter's Surgery
Tue., Jun. 27. 2006 4:33pm EDT
In our most recent newsletter, our lead singer, J. Jackson, asked for prayers for his youngest daughter, Kelly, who was having eye-muscle surgery early Tuesday, June 29, to correct a condition known as intermittent exotropia (her eyes frequently turned out).
The procedure is fairly routine (outpatient surgery), but Kelly is only two and a half and has autism, so J. asked for prayer that everything would go smoothly. Thanks to all of you who emailed with your concern, encouragement and prayers.
J.'s wife, Lisa, sent this update later in the day:
Kelly had her eye surgery this morning, and I wanted to let you know that she's doing fine!
She came out of surgery around 8:45, and they wanted to keep her until she woke up and had some fluids. At 11:00, however, she was still fighting to stay asleep and shoving away the sippy cup we'd offer her. So they finally told us to take her home while she was still groggy and comfortable, and that she'd recover faster in a familiar environment. So Kelly and I got home around 11:30 ... only five and a half hours after we left this morning.
Since we left the surgery center, she has been in good spirits but VERY mellow. Her eyes are very red on the outsides, and they said that will fade over the next several weeks. She has a follow-up appointment tomorrow, but her doctor who did the surgery said that she "did perfectly" during the surgery.
Thanks for your love and prayers for our little girl!
Lisa (and J. and family)
