Last Weekend in OH & PA
Sun., Dec. 24. 2006 6:07pm EST
We didn't have all our Christmas wrapping done until Sunday night, but we did wrap up our busiest year ever -- 136 concerts in 28 states -- with three concerts two weekends ago in Akron OH (Friday), Monaca PA (Saturday), and New Bethlehem PA (Sunday).
If you're reading this aloud, make sure you pronounce Monaca as "Mo-NAK-ah" and New
Bethlehem as "New Beth'lem." You'll please any natives in the audience. You probably already know how to pronounce Akron, but you'll want to mention that it was once known as the "tire capital" and "bowling capital" of the world.
Like Akron, we were tired but also bowled over by all the friends and family who came out to see us over the weekend. Thanks for all the cards, gifts and encouragement. You guys are the best!
We introduced two more songs from "Wordplay" into our set list, so we're now playing nine of them live. It should be an exciting 2007 with all those new songs, our 15th anniversary in March, and our 1000th concert (Lord willing) sometime later in the year. But for now, we're going to rest up and take the next four weekends off.
Special thanks to:
Our concert coordinators: Alan Strobel (Akron); Julie & Tim Falarski (Monaca); and Pastor Doug Henry (New Bethlehem).
Our merchandise coordinators: Marie (Akron, Monaca, and New Bethlehem); Tammy and Kim (Akron); Chrissy (Monaca); and Kim and Tracy (New Bethlehem).
Our sound folks: Larry (Akron), Greg (Monaca), and Eve (New Bethlehem).
Our roadies: Brandon and Rich (Akron, Monaca, and New Bethlehem); Larry (Akron and Monaca); Evan (Akron and New Bethlehem); Chris and Adam (Akron); Greg (Monaca); and Micah (New Bethlehem).
Honorable mention to:
Jeff Clement and Ryan Miller, a father and son team who flew in from Phoenix AZ to see us in Akron (It was a Christmas present from Mom.)
Vicki Linimiskivich, who celebrated her 30th ApologetiX concert all time with us on Friday.
Brandon Gross, who celebrated his 30th ApologetiX concert on Saturday, and then his 31st on Sunday.
Bethany Davis, who attended all three concerts, giving her a record 50 concerts for 2006 alone and 98 overall (another record).
