This Past Weekend in VA, MD & PA
Mon., Sep. 24. 2007 12:41am EDT
As we count down to our 1000th concert, we played concerts number 996-998 this past weekend in Chesapeake VA (Friday), Columbia MD (Saturday), and Gettysburg PA (Sunday).
One of the weekend's highlights occurred when we pulled into Saturday's venue and were greeted by a seven-foot inflatable incredible Hulk. But the best moment had to be after Sunday's show, when a fan named Ben told us he'd became a born-again Christian about five years ago after hearing "Flurry," our parody of "Blurry" by Puddle of Mudd.
Special thanks to:
Our concert promoters: Sam Turner (Chesapeake), Matthew Mann (Columbia), and Bob Boehner (Gettysburg).
Our merchandise coordinators: Jenn the Superchick (Columbia and Gettysburg); Deb B. and Deb. M. (Chesapeake); Marie, Rachel, and Stephanie (Columbia); and Nikki (Gettysburg).
Our bus driver: Pastor Dave "Super-Dave" Johnson, who also brought one of his sons, Super-Drew Johnson. This was Super-Dave's third bus tour with us. His first was the maiden voyage, our 10-day tour this past summer.
Our roadies: Nate (Chesapeake, Columbia, and Gettysburg) and Rich (Columbia).
Honorable mention to: Brandi, Jenna, and Caleb Leasure, who drove from Ohio to see us in Maryland. They've now seen us at 50 concerts in 18 states/provinces, and have been to at least one concert for a record-breaking 12 straight weekends. Derrick Leasure, the father of the family, has had to miss a few because of nursing school, but he's still not far behind, with 15 states/provinces.
Pittsburgh's Rich and Marie Polick, who came to Saturday's concert and have now seen us at 76 and 80 concerts respectively.
Lancaster's Jenn "Superchick" Kipp, who came to both Saturday's and Sunday's concerts, and has now seen us 72 times.
