This Past Weekend in NY, PA & PA
Tue., Apr. 22. 2008 12:12pm EDT
We had to take a trip down memory lane in order to get to our concerts this past weekend in Morrisville NY (Friday), Irwin PA (Saturday), and Mifflintown PA (Sunday).
On Friday, we played on the campus of the University of Morrisville, the alma mater of our bus driver for the weekend, Dana Brown, who now lives near Richmond VA.
We played our official 16th anniversary concert on Saturday, and guest stars included Jeff Pakula (our original drummer), Jerry Hayostek (our original bass player), Bob Flaherty (our drummer from 1995-98 and on the "Ticked" CD) and Keith Harrold (our fill-in drummer at various times from 1993-00 and the drummer on our "Isn't Wasn't Ain't" CD and on three songs on our "Keep the Change" CD).
The celebration continued on Sunday, with a surprise appearance by David McKee (drummer on our "Jesus Christ Morningstar" CD).
Here's part of an email we received from Pastor Mark Monroe, who coordinated Friday's concert:Thanks again for all you guys did on Friday! Having the concert was a groundbreaking event for our little church. I know that they had never stepped beyond your basic gospel quartet before! It went great and I have truly not heard any complaints!
To top it off, it seems to be all my people are talking about, in a good way! I will close with a portion from an e-mail I recieved from a family who had traveled nearly a hundred miles to hear the concert. I read this e-mail to our church family on Sunday and it refreshed us all once again:
"We attended the concert last night & just wanted to let you know that we had a great time. Our family of four truly enjoyed the entire experience of great music, spiritual wisdom & humor! We live 70 miles north of Syracuse, but the trip was worth it! We purchased two of their CD's and will probably end up buying another very soon."
Here's a comment from a fan whose first concert was the anniversary show:
My wife and I finally saw you in concert at the church in Irwin PA. I just wanted to let you know what a fantastic show it was. It was great to see some of your friends and former members perform during a few songs. All of you are truly talented.
When listening to your CDs, one could never really be sure how much of the studio mixing is helping the sound of your tracks. Well after seeing and hearing you guys perform live, I am amazed (no studio help needed)! Between the lyrics and vocals of J. along with instrumentals of the band, ApologetiX is unsurpassed by any other group.
I believe ApologetiX has a unique ministry that can not only help reach people that may not be receptive to mainstream Christianity, but also by building up believers and giving them something positive to listen to. In my case, I want to listen to something positive and pleasing to God while also not being lulled to sleep. Unfortunately, most Christian music just doesn't fit the bill.
There certainly isn't a lack of Christian music or even talent, but the majority of it, I can't listen to on a regular basis. About the only other choice used to be mainstream radio (sometimes good music, but usually with morally deplete lyrics). ApologetiX gives you the best of both worlds with the music most people know and like along with lyrics that feed your spirit.
Keep up the great work and we pray Apologetix has MANY successful years to come.
