Jimmy to Play 300th Concert with ApologetiX
Sun., May. 25. 2008 10:10pm EDT
Our next concert, June 6 in Columbia MD, will be Jimmy "Vegas" Tanner's 300th with ApologetiX. Although we've had quite a few drummers over the years, Jimmy is only the second drummer to play 300 concerts with us, and only the sixth member overall to do so.
Our June 14 concert in Waldeboro ME will take Jimmy up to 39 states played with ApologetiX. The only states he won't have played yet are Hawaii, Idaho, Maine, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Vermont, Washington, and Wyoming. Only five other members have played more states.
Jimmy played his first concert with the band on October 28, 2005 in Noblesville IN, filling in for our previous drummer Bill "Moose" Rieger. He's played all of them since then, except for the "Moose Farewell Tour" in Ohio, January 27-29, 2006. Jimmy will now hold the record for reaching the 300-concert plateau the fastest. It took him just over two years and seven months to do it.
Moose held the previous record for reaching 300 concerts the fastest. He still holds the following records, although Jimmy's pace no longer makes them look unattainable:
most concerts by an ApologetiX drummer: 396 (Jimmy has 299)
most states played by an ApologetiX drummer: 46 (Jimmy has 38)
most albums played on by an ApologetiX drummer: 5 (Jimmy has almost 4)
One thing Jimmy leads all ApologetiX drummers in, however, is celebrity endorsements. In addition to being sponsored by Truth Drums and Alchemy Cymbals, Jimmy was recently was asked by Trick Percussion Products to be part of their Pro-Player Artist Roster after they found out he uses Trick pedals on his drums.
In fact, Jimmy is now prominently featured on the company's home page. Go to http://www.trickdrums.com and scroll down, and you'll see his smiling face. Jimmy says that "Weird Al" Yankovic's drummer, Jon "Bermuda" Schwartz (who played drums on a third of our "Biblical Graffiti" CD), is also part of Trick Percussion Products' Pro-Player Artist Roster.
Congratulations, Jimmy!
