Thu., Mar. 1. 2001 2:10am EST

What are YOU doing?

J. Jackson, lead singer for ApologetiX (That Christian Parody Band) here again with an update. Last week, we had a problem with our e-mail server, and I sent out an e-mail that didn't reach you until a day later -- and when it was too late to do anything about the first item. This week, we should have no problems like that.

By the way, thanks to all of the folks who came to see us in Lancaster, OH, last week. They had triple the expected attendance for the show! We were blown away, and everybody sure made us feel welcome and very blessed!

Next week, we do a mini-tour of Texas (We'll be back in Texas in April for a concert in Dallas, too.) You're all invited to come see us in concert and meet the band afterward! If you've never been to an ApologetiX concert, you need to know that we like to meet our fans and friends, so we're always around after the concert to do just that. You won't have to hunt for us! 6. APOLOGETIX MAKES BESTSELLERS LIST

We just got word that "Spoofernatural" made the inventory list of bestsellers by major Christian music distributor Ingram-Spring Arbor! Kevin, the buyer at Ingram, was interviewed for one of their magazines, and when they asked him what he was listening to, he mentioned "Spoofernatural"! His interview will be in the March/April issue that goes out to all stores. Very cool!

Our retail sales coordinator, Tim Hetchler, recently got off the phone with a store in Wisconsin where a woman told him that ApologetiX is the second most popular group that customers are looking for on the "ReSound" system to listen to at the store.

7. APOLOGETIX AT TEEN MANIA'S ACQUIRE THE FIRE AND CHALMERS MUSIC SEMINARS

ApologetiX has been getting a lot of exposure recently from Phil Chalmers of Chalmers Music Seminars, who talk to teens and parents about the lyrics in today's secular music and its effect on the listener. Phil presents a very fair perspective and he always offers Christian alternatives for listeners. He speaks at many of the large Christian music festivals and at the massive Acquire the Fire youth rallies sponsored by Teen Mania Ministries. Phil was introduced to ApologetiX last spring, and since then, he has been featuring our music at his shows and selling our CDs afterward.

We recently got a call from Phil's wife, Barb, who said she was already out of their first order of "Spoofernatural," and she wanted 100 more. She said they LOVE the new CD. She said also said they'd played our parody "Livin' What Jesus Spoke Of" in front of 6,000 people at Acquire the Fire the previous night and the "audience roared."

Phil's video, "Music to Die For," is an excellent tool, and he has just released a compilation CD, "Music to LIVE for," featuring Christian bands that he recommends. We're honored to have the ApologetiX hit, "Enter Samson," featured on that CD. To find out more about Chalmers Music Seminars, go to www.chalmersmusic.com.

8. WHAT ABOUT OUR MOTIVES?

You know, when we send out these e-mails and tell you about concerts and airplay and stores, etc., sometimes people who don't know as well might wonder about our motives.

ApologetiX has a simple two-fold mission:

1. To teach Christians more about their faith and how to share it with others.
2. To reach those who don't know Christ with the message of salvation.

I think those who know us personally will affirm that we do what we do for the right reasons. I get asked many times what I want God to do with me in the future, and I always say, I don't care if the music goes by the wayside, because the thing I love the most is the Bible teaching and evangelism. I won't necessarily be a singer forever, but I will be a preacher forever. And I know the rest of the band members feel the same way. As they can attest to, the business end of things in Christian music is a big hassle, and as a Christian, I really don't get much of a thrill from fame. I'm married and have a four-year-old daughter, for Pete's sake. And God is no respecter of persons. We do this because we feel we have been called to do it, and because God continues to bless our ministry, but not because we want to be superstars.

Believe me, we DON'T get lost in some Christian rock star dream. But to share the news of ways in which God is blessing us, we also have to share news about ways in which He is allowing us to get the message out. Please realize that three out of four of the guys work full time jobs and give up their free time to drive hundreds of miles to play. This is not some glamour thing. But it is a wonderful honor, and we never want to take it for granted. Thank you for your support, prayers and friendship!

That's all for now! Keep in touch!

Apologetically,

J.

Philippians 2:5-8 Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.
