7. The $7 ApologetiX CD Sale Strikes Back

It has come to my attention that for some reason most of you did not receive last week's email newsletter. Now it's almost 2:30 a.m. on Thursday morning, and I need to get you the latest info, so I'm going to share the latest information plus include some of the items from last week's newsletter (but I'll update them) in attempt to get this out to you as quickly as possible.

First of all, you need to know that our new CD, "Adam Up," is running slightly behind schedule. It is very, very close to being done, but it's going to take a miracle for it to be in stores for Thanksgiving, as we had hoped. The good news is you should still have it in plenty of time for the Christmas shopping season, but please don't look for it in your local store until you get the final word from us as to when it will be there. Most of the 22 tracks have already been mixed down and mastered, and the rest of them are in the final mixing stages, but we want this to be our best release ever, and consequently, this has been our most time-consuming release ever. Please pray for our producer, Karl Messner, who has been working ėround the clock as he puts the finishing touches on this.

Thanks to everyone who came to see us in Wausau WI, Green Bay WI, and Greenfield IN this past weekend. You guys never cease to amaze us! We were flabbergasted to see ourselves on a big billboard with Bryan Duncan and Sonic Flood after the Wausau concert ... both Green Bay shows were sold out and standing room only ... and the crowd in Greenfield was one of the loudest and most enthusiastic ones I've heard. And I can't believe how many of you come to see us over and over again. Thank you so much!

Thanks to all of you who came to see us in Atlanta (Norcross) the Saturday before last, too. It was great to see you old friends (including our pal Jimmy "the Walking Miracle" Adamson, who first saw us back in 1992 at the Paradise Club!) and to make new ones.

I was rather amazed to discover from our gracious host, John Leonard, that two notable Atlanta-area Christians, comedian Jeff Foxworthy and Atlanta Braves Cy Young Award-winning pitcher John Smoltz actually own our CDs (and even more amazingly, they like them, according to John), although neither was in attendance. I'd imagine they have rather full schedules, although at a concert in Atlanta last year, I met another former Atlanta Braves Cy Young Award-winning pitcher, Steve Bedrosian, when he showed up in the autograph line with one of his kids. As a former baseball-card collector and a lifelong fan, I think that's pretty cool.

Speaking of celebrities, we had a special guest on keyboards in Norcross, Pastor Steve Carroll, who formerly played in concert and/or studio with such notable artists as Three Dog Night, the Guess Who, Bob Dylan and even Elvis. Steve makes an appearance on keyboards on our upcoming "Adam Up" CD, reprising one of the parts he once played in the studio for one of those artists. Although we'd never rehearsed with Steve before Saturday, Steve did an awesome job, sitting in on four songs, including two

I did the Norcross concert with an extreme ear infection and sore jaw resulting from a swollen pimple in my ear. It was very painful (earache) and distracting (no hearing in one ear), but I'm all healed now. This is the third year in a row I've gotten a pimple in my ear (it's happened in each ear, although never simultaneously), and every time there have been concerts to do. I've learned that God will always give me enough grace so the show can go on. Saturday was no exception. God is good.

And I just found out we're coming back to Georgia (Ashburn GA, to be specific) on December

2. "LOOK YOURSELF" UP TO #3 ... IS IT ON YOUR LOCAL STATION YET?

"Look Yourself," the first single from our upcoming CD, "Adam Up," has already been added to 44 of the nationally reporting Christian rock stations in its first three weeks. It's also up to #3 on Christian-HipHop.Net, and you can check that out for yourself at http://www.christian-hiphop.net/

The following stations have not yet begun playing "Look Yourself." Some of them may feel it is rap-oriented or novelty-oriented and many others are still waiting to make a decision, because the single is so new. Your input counts. If you see your local station listed below, please contact them and let them know if you'd like to hear "Look Yourself" yourself!

3. "ADAM UP," THE NEW APOLOGETIX CD: CLUES #13, 14 and 15

Our latest CD, "Adam Up," is scheduled for release in late November. "Adam Up" features 22 Biblical parodies of both classic and modern rock songs.

We're continuing our tradition of giving clues about the songs on the upcoming CD. I sent these three clues out last week, but I think most of our readers missed them:

Clue #13
We're in a Parody Band We knew it would take some kind of wonderful new ApologetiX theme song to replace "Play That Funny Music" -- and this is it. This spoof describes the ups and downs of being in Christian music's parody band, with a spotlight shinin' on the individual members of ApologetiX and our van, including a few humorous comments regarding the bad time we had this past summer trying to get it closer to home.

Clue #14
The Word A senior high student explains that if you really want to stand out in today's schools, there's only one Word you need to know. The singer himself is frank and valiant although his words are barely glib. The original song we spoofed here was already an oldie by the time it hit #1 on Billboard's charts.

Clue #15
Wake Up Talitha Cumi Jesus resurrects the synagogue ruler Jairus' daughter in Mark chapter five, uttering the Aramaic words "Talitha Cumi," which means, "Little girl, I say to you get up!" This song was the final hit for Simon & Garfunkel. How's that for a clue? Now all you have to do is dream up the original title. Here's another clue: This song is directly related to "Sweet Child O' Mine" by Guns N' Roses.

There's even a special webpage for you that includes the clues we've given thus far, the cover artwork, and more. Here's the link, especially for you:

5. THE SURFER GIRL AND THE SHARK

I couldn't think of the headline for this news item, so I went with something that I thought would get your attention and get the message across quickly.

Most of you have probably heard about Bethany Hamilton, the 13-year-old surfer girl in Hawaii, who lost her arm in a recent shark attack. I saw an interview with her brothers on "The Today Show" last week and discovered that the family are Christians. I was extremely impressed by the way her brothers kept attributing Bethany's strength in this to her faith in Christ. That's not an easy thing to do when you're a teenager, especially on national television!

Furthermore, I learned later that when Bethany was asked about her happiest moment so far, she said "I think my happiest moment was when I found out two girls on Kauai got saved" (came to know Jesus through Bethany's story).

After I saw that interview on "The Today Show" last week (this morning they did a follow-up interview with her father), at my wife's suggestion, I sent Bethany and her brothers an email to commend them for their faith and to try to encourage them. I was surprised to get a quick response and even more surprised to discover her brother had discovered ApologetiX in September, downloading our parodies and reading our bios, and he's actually on our email newsletter subscriber list! It turns out he's a huge Christian music fan, and that's all he listens to.

You can learn more about how Bethany and the family's prayer and financial needs at http://www.bethanyhamilton.com

I encourage you to check it out! And please keep Bethany and her family in your prayers!

6. UPDATE ON KARL'S WIFE

Karl's wife, Debbie, was able to take all of her post-op bandages off today. Here's a report straight from Deb this past evening:

"As the nurse had warned me, I'm in a little more pain now because I took away the support for my incision sites, so she said it would hurt quite a bit more for the first day or two (and boy, was she right). My knee and ankle are both a little swollen, but the swelling in my foot itself has dissipated quite a bit since the wraps have been off. It feel so good just to have air on it, though! I know I was in a cast for nearly 8 weeks with the first surgery, but my hard cast wasn't NEARLY as bulky and uncomfortable as this bandaging was from this surgery! Wow!"

Please keep Debbie in your prayers.

7. THE $7 APOLOGETIX CD SALE STRIKES BACK

There's never been a better time or easier way to complete your collection of ApologetiX CDs ... at least until "Adam Up" comes out. We have a limited supply of CDs with cracked cases that we are selling at a greatly reduced rate, and many of you have already taken advantage of this sale, which we have been running from time to time this year.

All seven of our titles are available. All of the CDs and booklets are in perfect shape. The cases are in various degrees of disrepair, some are in near-perfect shape while some don't even have cases, but all of them have the CD, the booklet and the tray card, so all you need is a CD case in good condition. I will autograph all of the CDs to help make up for the broken cases.

For a limited time only, we are making them available to our e-mail subscribers for $7 each.

We are also putting our remastered "Have Yourself a Parody Little Christmas" six-song CDs on sale for a limited time for $7 each. The CD includes the following songs:

1. "Micah No. 5" -
Parody of "Mambo No. 5" by Lou Bega
2. "Late December 5 or 6 B.C. (Oh Holy Night)" -
Parody of "December 1963 (Oh What a Night)" by the Four Seasons
3. "Santa Claus" (It's not what you think, though) -
Parody of "Panama" by Van Halen
4. "Hotel Can't Afford Ya" (Newly recorded version) -
Parody of "Hotel California" by the Eagles
5. "Manger" (same version as "Keep the Change") -

2 Corinthians 6:1-2
As God's fellow workers we urge you not to receive God's grace in vain. For he says, "In the time of my favor I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you." I tell you, now is the time of God's favor, now is the day of salvation.
