ApologetiX Pre-Thanksgiving Update
Mon., Nov. 24. 2003 2:38am EST

J. Jackson, lead singer and lyricist for ApologetiX (That Christian Parody Band) here.

The next two weekends, we are taking a much-needed break from touring, although Karl has been in the studio putting the finishing touches on the final mixes of our new "Adam Up" CD. Unfortunately, that means it won't be out at Thanksgiving, as we originally hoped, but you should still have plenty of time to get it during the Christmas shopping season. I promise we'll tell you once we know when it'll be in stores.

I have had the pleasure of hearing a number of the completed tracks, and I think it's our finest work to date. We can't wait for you to hear it! Please pray for a speedy turnaround from the manufacturer, so we can get it to the stores and distributors as quickly as possible.

1. "LOOK YOURSELF" HITS #1 ON TWO CHARTS ... IS IT ON YOUR LOCAL STATION YET?

We've got two pieces of good news to report about "Look Yourself," the first single from our upcoming CD, "Adam Up."

It hit #1 this week on Christian-HipHop.Net, and it's the most requested song on cmradio.net.

You can "look yourself" at both charts by clicking on the links below:

http://www.christian-hiphop.net/ http://www.cmradio.net/charts/3_weeklychart.html

As we reported last week, "Look Yourself" is also off to a good start on Christian rock stations, with 50 of the major Christian rock stations now playing it. However, as of last week, the following stations have not yet begun playing "Look Yourself," at least in part because of it is a parody of a rap/hip hop song. Your input counts. If you see your local station listed below, please contact them and let them know if you'd like to hear it!

3. "ADAM UP," THE NEW APOLOGETIX CD: CLUES #16-18

Our latest CD, "Adam Up," is scheduled for release in December. "Adam Up" features 22 Biblical parodies of both classic and modern rock songs. We're continuing our tradition of giving clues about the songs on the upcoming CD.

There's even a special webpage for you that includes the clues we've given thus far, the cover artwork, and more. Here's the link, especially for you:

http://www.apologetix.com/adamup

Here are three new clues:

Clue #16
Get Found Tonight Elaborates on Jesus' parable about the Good Shepherd and the lost sheep in Luke
15. As far as the original artist here, "Ain't no sunshine when he goes away." The initial thing you notice about the singer is his last name. This was his first number one hit.

Clue #17
Wherever You Will Sow A song of hope for believers who have sown the Word of God in tears (Psalm 126:5-6) in hopes of a harvest among their friends and loved ones. God's word never comes back void without accomplishing the purpose for which He sent it out (Isaiah 55:11) The band that did the original version of the song spoofed here obviously considers rock and roll more than just an avocation. They're fairly new on the scene, but they seem like the perfect choice to do a remake of some old Electric Light Orchestra (ELO) hits like "Telephone Line" or "Ma-Ma-Ma Belle." In fact, ELO's last top 40 hit (#18 in 1986) would probably be the most appropriate choice of all, since it contains this band's name.

Clue #18
Should I Pray or Should I Go? A reluctant would-be (or wouldn't-be?) missionary has a talk with God about whether he really needs to leave his neighborhood to spread the Gospel. A tongue-in-cheek look at some of the lesser "perils" of missions ó foreign food, foreign language barriers and lack of missionaries left to serve in the United States! Includes a list of all the countries in the 10/40 Window targeted by many evangelistic missions today. Combine MxPx, the White Stripes, and Brian Hyland's itsy bitsy #1 hit from the 1960's, and you'll get the band that did the original song we're spoofing here. Don't expect the original title to match the band, though.

4. APOLOGETIX AND YOU AT CREATION 2004?

Of all the festivals we've played, we are most frequently asked when we are coming back to the Creation Festival, one of the nation's oldest and largest Christian music festivals. Although the festival is located in Mt. Union, PA, it draws fans from all over the country. ApologetiX played the main stage there in 2000, Actually, that's only Creation East. There is also a Creation West festival in George, WA. This coming year, Creation East will take place June 23-26, and Creation West will take place July 21-24,

Creation Festival Director Tim Landis recently said he is "considering" ApologetiX for Creation 2004, and that he's going to "look at the survey." What survey, you ask? The Creation Festival wants to know which artists you would like to see at Creation 2004.

Your input really counts and definitely will have an impact. Furthermore, by completing the survey, your name will be automatically entered in a drawing to win a pair of Creation 2004 Tickets.

Click here to go to Creation Festival Survey Page: http://www.itickets.com/contest/creation

Here are two other ways you can help, according to our booking agent, Kathleen Burke:

Go to the Creation chat room and start a chat about ApologetiX coming to Creation East and West: chat@creationfest.com

Send a testimony of how ApologetiX has affected your life: webmaster@creationfest.com

Thanks for your help!

5. Two More Fans Build ApologetiX Websites

Although we can't officially endorse any ApologetiX website aside from our own, since we don't control the content, we are humbled by the fact that there are a number of you out there who have made your own ApologetiX websites.

Consequently, from time to time, we like to let you know about new ones we're made aware of. Here are two of them:

6. THE $7 APOLOGETIX THANKSGIVING CD SALE

No, we don't have a Thanksgiving CD -- just a Thanksgiving CD Sale -- although we do have a Christmas EP CD, which just happens to be part of our $7 ApologetiX Thanksgiving CD Sale.

We have a limited supply of CDs with cracked cases that we are selling at a greatly reduced rate, and many of you have already taken advantage of this sale, which we have been running from time to time this year.

All seven of our titles are available. All of the CDs and booklets are in perfect shape. The cases are in various degrees of disrepair, some are in near-perfect shape while some don't even have cases, but all of them have the CD, the booklet and the tray card, so all you need is a CD case in good condition. I will autograph all of the CDs to help make up for the broken cases.

For a limited time only, we are making them available to our e-mail subscribers for $7 each.

We are also putting our remastered "Have Yourself a Parody Little Christmas" six-song CDs on sale for a limited time for $7 each. The CD includes the following songs:

1. "Micah No. 5" -
Parody of "Mambo No. 5" by Lou Bega
2. "Late December 5 or 6 B.C. (Oh Holy Night)" -
Parody of "December 1963 (Oh What a Night)" by the Four Seasons
3. "Santa Claus" (It's not what you think, though) -
Parody of "Panama" by Van Halen
4. "Hotel Can't Afford Ya" (Newly recorded version) -
Parody of "Hotel California" by the Eagles
5. "Manger" (same version as "Keep the Change") -
Parody of "Angel" by Shaggy with Rayvon
6. "Christmasnite" (same version as "Keep the Change") -
Parody of "Kryptonite" by Three Doors Down
