This Past Weekend in TN & MS
Wed., Jun. 29. 2011 11:18pm EDT
We got off on the wrong foot this past weekend at our concerts in Morrison TN and Jackson MS (Pearl MS). Well, Keith did, at least.
Sometime on the way to Tennessee Friday, he developed a fever, chills, and aches. He later developed severe redness on his right leg and severe pain when he walked, so he literally didn't have a leg to stand on. Things got so bad that he had to play much of the weekend's shows sitting in a chair.
After Saturday's show, a married couple from the church volunteered to take Keith to the hospital -- Cindy Allen, a former paramedic who is now a nurse, and her husband, Jon. Before she left, Cindy unintentionally added some humor to the situation by saying, "Just wanted to let you know, we're going to take Ken to the hospital."
Three hours later, after a thorough evaluation including blood work and an ultrasound, Ken ... er ... Keith was diagnosed as having cellulitis. For more on that condition, and a photo that looks very similar to Keith's leg, go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cellulitis
Thankfully, the condition is treatable with antibiotics, and Keith was doing considerably better on the trip home, which began immediately after he was finished at the hospital. The condition may have been brought on by a bug bite. We're still not sure. Although Keith would dearly love spider powers, he would settle for just being all better.
The condition got a bit worse after he first got home but has improved somewhat since. Please keep him in your prayers.
Here's an email excerpt from Saturday's promoter: Thanks again for coming to Pearl and doing an awesome job. As usual you guys were excellent!
Marshall Sykes
Pearl MS Here are some email excerpts from fans in attendance:Thanks for singing "People Are Lazy" Friday night. Ever since I heard you guys sing it in Tullahoma TN, last September, it's been one of my favorites. I think each show I go to is better than the last. Take care, and I hope to see you guys again this year!
