Hat Trick for Greg Spack
Wed., Sep. 26. 2012 12:23pm EDT
Congratulations are in order to our sound engineer Greg Spack for three big reasons:
1. He'll celebrate his birthday with us this coming Saturday in Gainesville VA.
2. He just finished producing the latest ApologetiX CD, 20:20 Vision. Although the album was mastered by our usual producer (and alumni keyboardist) Bill Hubauer, Greg engineered, mixed and produced it.
3. He's just been selected to be the guitar tech for internationally renowned progressive-rock musician Neal Morse on his upcoming U.S. tour. Neal Morse first found fame with Spock's Beard, one of the more successful progressive-rock bands of the late 90's, and Transatlantic, a progressive-rock supergroup that also featured members of Dream Theater, Marillion, and The Flower Kings.
Neal became a born-again Christian in 2002 and embarked on a successful solo career. Earlier this year, Bill Hubauer was selected to play keyboards, violin, and saxophone in Neal's touring band. Like Hubie, Greg is a big fan of Neal's work and progressive rock in general.
The band for this tour also includes critically acclaimed drummer Mike Portnoy, formerly of Dream Theater. Greg is flying to Nashville on October 1 to meet the band and learn the equipment. He will then do his audition tour for two weeks from October 2-12. This will include eight shows in Nashville, Jacksonville, Mexico City, Los Angeles, Seattle, Denver, New York City and Chicago.
Thankfully, Greg will only miss a few weekends on the road with us, and he already has capable people to fill in for him. We'll still miss him, but we're extremely excited for him and proud of him! Please pray for him.
You go, Greg!
