J. Jackson, lead singer and lyricist for ApologetiX (That Christian Parody Band) here.
I'm writing this to you from the middle of a parking lot in the family minivan with our two younger daughters asleep in the back. I guarantee you by the time I'm done writing it, they won't be asleep! They probably will be asleep, however (I hope so, for my wife's sake), when our bass player, Keith, picks me up tomorrow at 6 a.m. to go to the airport.
This weekend (Saturday), we're at Four Nights in October (well, ONE of these nights) for the second time in three years. We were invited last year, too, but my wife and I were expecting our third daughter at the same time, so we had to pass. This year, we're honored to be sharing the stage with the Newsboys, Downhere and Jubal's Kin. And make sure you check out the lineup on Sunday night, too, which culminates with Audio Adrenaline.
Thanks to everybody who came to see us in Miami FL and Big Rapids MI last weekend. It was a great time, and we got some great "live" tracks recorded in Miami. Too bad we weren't also recording in Michigan. That was a great crowd, too!
Our fall schedule is starting to fill up, so make sure you check out the upcoming concerts section this week to find out info on newly scheduled concerts in Missouri, Mississippi, Pennsylvania and Georgia. There are more concerts in the works, too, so stay tuned to upcoming newsletters.

4. What This About a New ApologetiX CD?
If you've been reading the opening section of the newsletter the past couple of weeks, you know that we're planning to release a new CD in time for the Christmas shopping season. Every week, we plan to tell you a little bit more about the project. This week, we'll start by telling you that it's a two-CD set (40 songs for the price of one CD) called "New & Used Hits: The Best of ApologetiX Vol. 1 & 2" ... but it's not your typical "Best of" collection.
Even if you own all of the previous ApologetiX CDs, there's enough new material on this one to give you a whole CD's worth of stuff you don't already have. For the record (no pun intended -- O.K., maybe just a little one), "New & Used Hits" includes:
- a bunch of brand-new parodies (both classic and modern) - favorite tracks from all eight of our releases from "Radical History Tour" through "Adam Up" - all four of the songs that were previously only available on our Christmas EP - "live" versions of some classic ApologetiX songs that we feel add something to the original versions and give a taste of the humor and ministry of an ApologetiX concert
It all adds up to almost two and a half hours of music, and enough material to fill four "normal" CDs by the average band -- all for the price of one CD.
5. Downer of a Sister #1 in Connecticut
We just got word this week that "Downer of a Sister" hit #1 on WVOF-FM (C-Rock) New Creation Radio in Southbury CT. Here's the top 10:
1. ApologetiX - Downer of a Sister
2. Mourning September - Glorietta
3. Casting Crowns - American Dream
4. Day Of Fire - Cornerstone
5. FM Static - Definitely Maybe
6. Kutless - Not What You See
7. Tait - Reconnecting
8. Thousand Foot Krutch - Faith, Love And Happiness
9. Tobymac - Gone 10. 12 Stones - Far Away
6. Please Vote for ApologetiX in CCM Magazine Reader's Choice Awards As we mentioned in last week's newsletter, it's time to vote for the CCM Magazine Annual Reader's Choice Awards. Although we've been hitting the national Christian rock single and album charts for the past few years, have been faithful subscribers for five years, and have advertised every one of our CDs since "Spoofernatural" with full-page ads in their publication, CCM Magazine has basically never acknowledged our existence in any of their articles, aside from inclusion in a photo caption with other artists at an event we played earlier this year.
Like many others, I think CCM Magazine would probably be shocked to discover just how many ApologetiX fans there are out there. I did a radio interview with a station in Abilene TX earlier this week, and he couldn't believe that we had over 40,000 regular subscribers to our weekly email newsletter. But it's true. God has blessed us with a lot of friends and fans. And the neat thing is, when those friends and fans tell others about us, we usually end up with a whole bunch of new friends and fans. A lot of CCM Magazine readers just don't know who we are.
Now, CCM Magazine has just opened up the on-line voting for their annual Reader's Choice Awards. Not surprisingly, we're not even listed as a choice ... BUT there is a spot in each category where you can write in a vote. There are a number of categories in which you could choose to vote for ApologetiX, such as Favorite Band of 2004 (don't do Favorite Group -- that's for vocal groups), Favorite Artist of 2004, Favorite Album of 2004, Breakout Artist of 2004, Favorite Artist Who's Never Appeared on a CCM Cover, and even Favorite Independent Artist of 2004.
We'll welcome any votes you want to place on our behalf, but Favorite Independent Artist sure looks like a category where we'd have a good chance. You can vote for ApologetiX in as many of the applicable (let's not be silly and stick us in categories that don't apply) categories as you like (and please don't forget to vote for other artists you enjoy in their applicable categories), but please submit only one ballot. People who try to stuff the ballot box by submitting more than once will be automatically disqualified. It makes them look bad and it makes the artists they vote for look bad. Besides, if we win, we want to win fair and square.
This ballot is really easy to fill out. If you have a moment, please take the time to go to:

If you clicked on the above link and it didn't take you to the ballot, try copying and pasting it into your browser. If that doesn't work, you can click on the link at CCM Magazine's website: http://ccmmagazine.com
Thanks for your support!
Thanks! God bless you all!
Apologetically,
J.
