Clues to the Songs on Our Next Single
Thu., Jul. 3. 2014 12:44am EDT
Our next single is our first to feature all-female lead vocals on both parodies, sung by two ladies who serve on the New Community Church worship team with ApologetiX lead singer J. Jackson. We were honored to have each of them in the studio with us.
Here are some clues:
SONG #1
Isaiah prophesied that the Messiah would have "no beauty or majesty to attract us to him," but other things should have made His identity obvious. Elaine Heitzer, who sings lead vocals on this parody, was one of the back-up female singers on our 20:20 Vision CD in 2012, although at the time we didn't anticipate she'd be coming around again as a lead singer on one our studio recordings. But we can't think of anybody (aside from the original artist) who could have done it better. Once you hear her, we think you'll agree it was the right thing to do. J. sings backing vocals, mimicking the same singer he spoofed the last time he did a duet with a female from his church's worship team.
SONG #2
The Samaritan woman in John 4 recounts her story of sharing a drink with a Man unlike any other she'd ever met. Keely Singer, who previously shared vocals with J. on our recording of "Gimme Helper" a couple months ago, sings lead on this one, but she's not alone. Janna Jackson, who sang lead on "Lived the Day You Died," "Jezebel," and "Aaronic" does backing vocals, as she did with her sister Heather on the other song on this single. You may never guess the original without more clues, but the ones we gave you are better than nothing at all, and who will you run to for more? You won't have to wait for answer for long.
We plan to release this new single by Sunday night, Lord willing.
