In last week's newsletter, J. wrote about how his dog had just died and how all of the other band members had lost pets in the past 12 months. He also shared some scriptures about God's care for animals. Soon after, we received this touching email: As I was driving into work this morning, I was wondering if ApologetiX had a song about losing a family pet, since you have them that cover many other subjects. Then, I get to my desk and open my email, and what do I see, but your story about having to put your dog to sleep.
Here's our story: I was walking past the stairs that lead from our living room down to our dining room and I saw my engaged daughter laying on the stairs with our cat, Ginger, laying on her torso, enjoying a good petting. She, looked so happy and content getting her little head rubbed and back scratched. She looked up at me and decided to investigate.
Unfortunately, this was the last joyful moment of her life. As she was bounding off my daughter, we she started walking funny. She also started crying out in pain. We took her to the vet and were told that a blood clot lodged in her right femoral artery and was blocking all blood flow to her leg. There was nothing that could be done, so we had to put her to sleep last night. Less than two hours after this whole thing starting, our beloved family pet was no more.
So, while I didn't get an ApologetiX song, your story did touch my heart and help to remind me that we are not alone in our suffering. I've forwarded this to my wife, so it may help her as well. Thank you for sharing.
