Encouragement from a Rescue Mission in KC
Fri., Mar. 11. 2016 12:42pm EST
Here are some excerpts from an encouraging email we recently received from a rescue mission in Kansas City:I am an assistant chaplain representing the Kansas City Rescue Mission in Kansas City MO. Our mission's calling is first to represent God's love, grace, and mercy in practical provisions to the homeless and less fortunate, and second to present his love come down in the life, death, and resurrected presence of His Son through the Gospel.
Each afternoon, the people who come to us are invited to come into our ministry building, escape the elements, have dinner (and breakfast), and enjoy free lodging.
In doing this we also take responsibility to follow through and take care of them in many other ways; laundry, showers, clothing distribution, haircuts, and, more importantly, spiritual opportunities to hear about and meet Jesus Christ.
In sharing the Gospel with these folks I have come to understand that it takes more subtle and many times sophisticated ways to do this than just flooding them with Gospel preaching on a nightly basis.
Through various activities of an audio or video nature, I have presented your ministry (and that of other ministry artists), trying to invite our patrons into a world that is stamped by the greater narrative of God than they have maybe knowingly encountered before.
I would like to say how successful I believe this sharing of Christ through your work and word was. Your music and ministry touched many hundreds in ways that may not be able to be measured exactly, but were so positive and proofed by many hearts turned toward God.
Thank you so much for sharing the immense gifts that blessed my own life in Jesus over the years, but also gave me ways to bless others here with Him in ways my abilities would not have allowed.
Brothers, you are great men of the Lord, and many will be in the line of those thanking you when we are home (I among them), but I would like to urge you to know that many more will be in that line from your sharing here.
