Two Courageous Families Who've Endured a Lot
Thu., Mar. 10. 2005 2:05pm EST
We've received two encouraging emails recently from families in which young girls have survived animal attacks. The members of ApologetiX have a total of 13 children, including eight daughters, so it's really hard for us to listen to these stories. But God is faithful in the midst of it. And we are honored to be allowed to minister to these families through music.
We'd like to share these emails and ask for your prayers for both of the girls.
The first email is from somebody you probably heard about on the news. In the fall of 2003, Bethany Hamilton, a 13-year-old girl who was already a nationally competitive surfer, got attacked by a shark while surfing. Although she lost an arm in the attack, Bethany and her family turned the tragedy into an opportunity to witness for the Lord, and soon she was surfing again. We got an email from Bethany a couple weeks ago that said:
"Hey J. Jackson, I think that you and your band are very talented, I've heard you all before! Keep serving the Lord."

The second email is from the mother of another girl who's actually been through two dog attacks and a car wreck. Please keep this family in your prayers:
"You have been such a blessing to my family. My husband loves your music and so do I . When we have a bad day we listen to your CDs. We have a 12-year-old daughter. She gets so excited when Dad calls. If we're not home he plays one of your songs for her. You guys are super. THANK YOU for such a great blessing.
"Our daughter needs this uplifting. She has been dog-attacked twice. The first time she was 18 months old. She lost her shoulder and it went in the main artery in her arm. At 26 months old, she was in a car wreck and they had to cut her out, and at five years, she got dog-attacked again. She lost her right cheek 140 stitches later, and it missed her main artery in her neck by 1/8 of an inch. And three years ago someone gave her speed.
"We thank GOD everyday, but when we heard your music it been keeping us up and it keeps us in hope that someday we will get to meet you all in person. We can't afford a lot of your music but we try to buy it when we see it. My husband is a drummer. He's been blessed. He's played the Grand Ole Opry. He's also a sound man. Well, I guess I need to let you go. I'm sorry; I never meant to talk so much, but you guys are just so great that my blood flows I get a rush. I can't get enough of the word even if it's in music. Again, thank you and GOD Bless you and your families. We sure hope you come to NC so we can try to get to see you. Please keep me and my family in prayers. We would be so grateful.
