ApX Parody Making an Impact in South Africa
Thu., Aug. 1. 2019 7:36pm EDT

Here's an inspirational story about how God is using a particular ApologetiX parody in South Africa:

Stephanus Van Vuuren is a longtime ApX fan in South Africa who started listening to our parodies in 1997, but we didn't hear from him until 19 years later. He first contacted us in January 2016 and explained his background and current mission:

I was a police officer for 23 years, 10 years as captain. In 2007, God called me for full-time ministry among the police. I resigned, but went through a very difficult time. I got divorced and "lost" about everything. All I have left is some of my books and all my Christian music -- CDs and tapes. God then gave me a new wife in 2012 and after we got married we moved out of Johannesburg to the south coast in KwaZuluNatal. I got involved with the local police station and we are busy with a new movement "Police for Christ."
He recently asked if he could make a video for "The Sound of Sirens" (our parody of "The Sound of Silence" by Disturbed, released in 2016) to minister to people in South Africa, another place facing racial unrest, violence, and conflicts with the police. His wife, Susan, put the video together, using powerful photos of people and situations in South Africa. He posted it last Thursday, and sent us the following message three days later:
Just to give you some feedback of the video. I posted it on a few of my pages and groups. So far, since Thursday 25 July, only on my one page, Police for Christ, it has reached over 15,000 people, 2,859 Engagements, 231 shares. It has over 5,000 views so far. The response so far is amazing. This song is really going to impact South Africa and all praise to God for using us as His instruments. Be blessed.
As of Thursday evening, August 1, it had 6,800 views and 298 shares.

The Facebook Page for Police for Christ says the following about the organization:
OUR PURPOSE: to glorify Jesus Christ in the Police Service.

OUR MISSION: is to
• encourage and support Christians in the Police Service
• communicate in words and action, the truth, message and hope of the gospel of Jesus Christ to colleagues and the community we serve.
• build bridges between the Christian community and the police.

OUR VISION: is to see
• an active and growing Branch at every Police Station and every Christian in the Police Service to fulfill their potential in Jesus Christ.
• colleagues and those we serve come to know Jesus Christ personally.
• police and churches working together in every community to reduce crime and improve quality of life.

We are called not only to save lives from physical danger, but also from eternal condemnation; not only to arrest a criminal and put him in jail, but also to share the love of Christ with him, that he may know the truth that sets men free from the bondage of sin. We are called not only to carry out investigation professionally to win a case, but also to ensure that justice is done and that the guilty face the full force of the law for their evil, and the innocent do not suffer unjustly.
Please pray that God will use the video and Police for Christ to bless many in South Africa.
