Great Observations from the Great White North

Here's an insightful email we recently received from a longtime fan in Canada:I had my ApologetiX music on random a couple of days ago, and I heard "With a Harp David Writes" for what seems like the first time.
Some of my favourite APX songs are the ones with the lyrics that explain what you and APX strive to do -- "reach the lost and teach the rest" - and the method you use to do it. Songs like "Fight for Your Right to Parody," "All ApologetiX," "Barroom Hitz," and this one about David and Paul detail very clearly how you use modern music as a tool to reach people where they are right now, and why this method has been used effectively by others in the past (see "Barroom Hitz"). I appreciate your commitment and efforts to this calling so much!
I was listening again today to "With a Harp David Writes" -- God provided powerful lyrics! In particular, you mention that David used a harp while writing the psalms, but that he would have used the instrument he had -- could just as easily have been a "guitar, bass and drums." That is such a worthwhile reminder to use what we have nearby (our voices, our hands) to praise the Lord!
The part of the song about Paul (Cor. 9:22) in a very effective reminder also. The Bible shows and Paul describes how he met people where they were at that time, using his skills and experience to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ to people with varied backgrounds and understandings. This is especially powerful to me when I consider my own approach with people when I use the "relevant" part of myself to connect with them: I talk about photography with my photography friends, and I talk about music with my music friends, etc.
I already adjust myself to show the part of me that will reach the person I'm speaking with - not to the point of becoming something I'm not, but instead using the part of myself that is best suited to make a specific connection. And Paul says he uses that approach to preach -- just like you use it to preach -- and just like I should learn to use it to preach.
That's the key point for me: Because ApologetiX music is grounded in biblical truths, it is a great encourager for me to better serve the Lord.
