"Are You Gonna Be Ike's Girl," our parody of Jet's "Are You Gonna Be My Girl" from New and Used Hits is still #1 on Venezuela's Despertar radio station, 100.5 FM.
Here are the latest Christian music charts, courtesy of our friend DJ Jorge Pozo at DESPERTAR 100.5 FM, who writes:
"Hi fellows. This is our top 10 most-wanted songs, there are some changes on it, but ApologetiX is still # 1."
1.- Are You Gonna Be Ike's Girl By Apologetix
2.- All Because Of You By U2
3.- Be My Escape By Relient K
4.- Gone By TobyMac (from 7th place to 4th)
5.- JC's Mom By ApologetiX (from 4th place to 5th)
Lest any of you wonder how much impact a parody written in English can have in a Spanish-speaking South American country, Jorge also adds the following:
"Since I started playing ApologetiX there's has been not another band in #1 of our top 10 most-wanted songs. Every song has touched the heart of the listener, christians an non-christian as well. 'Are You Gonna Be Ike's Girl' is the last song we have in the honor position and we have such a GREAT response from the listeners.
"Last friday a young boy called to the station and said: 'That song ('Are You Gonna Be Ike's Girl') just made me think that I really need to wait for God to bring the one who's gonna be my girl, I've been desperately looking around, but now I know that if He did it in the past He will do the same for me, He will bring the right girl, so, now I can rest in Him patiently, He knows what's better for me.'
"ApologetiX rocks everywhere!!!"
