Some Bible Verses to Ponder

Satan loves to try to call the truth into doubt and to discredit witnesses. Jesus said this about him:
John 8:44b
"He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.
Satan lies about God, and God's people, and about the truth. We see him doing it as early as the third chapter of the Bible:
Genesis 3:4-5
"You will not certainly die," the serpent said to the woman. "For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil."
2 Corinthians 11:14-15
And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. It is not surprising, then, if his servants also masquerade as servants of righteousness. Their end will be what their actions deserve.
Satan also has a history of inciting people to try to discredit those who are trying to tell the truth. Consider what was said about:
About Jesus
John 7:47-49
"You mean he has deceived you also?" the Pharisees retorted. "Have any of the rulers or of the Pharisees believed in him? No! But this mob that knows nothing of the law—there is a curse on them."
About Paul
Acts 26:24
At this point Festus interrupted Paul's defense. "You are out of your mind, Paul!" he shouted. "Your great learning is driving you insane."
2 Corinthians 10:10
For some say, "His letters are weighty and forceful, but in person he is unimpressive and his speaking amounts to nothing."
About Jeremiah
Jeremiah 38:4
Then the officials said to the king, "This man should be put to death. He is discouraging the soldiers who are left in this city, as well as all the people, by the things he is saying to them. This man is not seeking the good of these people but their ruin."
About Ezekiel
Ezekiel 20:49
Then I said, "Sovereign LORD, they are saying of me, 'Isn't he just telling parables?'"
About Nehemiah
Nehemiah 6:8-9
I sent him this reply: "Nothing like what you are saying is happening; you are just making it up out of your head." They were all trying to frighten us, thinking, "Their hands will get too weak for the work, and it will not be completed." But I prayed, "Now strengthen my hands."
About Lot
Genesis 19:14
So Lot went out and spoke to his sons-in-law, who were pledged to marry his daughters. He said, "Hurry and get out of this place, because the Lord is about to destroy the city!" But his sons-in-law thought he was joking.
Some food for thought in these trouble times.
