Last Saturday in Port St. Lucie FL
Tue., Apr. 26. 2005 12:40pm EDT
Thanks to all of you who came to see us in Port St. Lucie, FL last Saturday. The people were wonderful, some of them driving three and four hours from Tampa (like Gary, Tina, Vinny & Dodie) and St. Petersburg (like Richard & Gina) to see their first ApologetiX concert. Not to mention old friend and RHT co-engineer, Kevin "Goose" Gushlaw who brought his sister Rebecca and her whole family. The party of 9 came all the way from Winter Garden near Orlando!
Of course, the weather was ideal, especially compared to the light snow and chilly temperatures we encountered when we returned to Pittsburgh on Sunday. The only reason we can figure that more people don't live in Port. St. Lucie is the fire ants ... and maybe the coral snakes, rattlesnakes, alligators, crocodiles, sharks, scorpions, and spiders (pick your poison: black widow or brown recluse).
Seriously, though, we didn't see any of those creepy crawlers except the fire ants, but we did spend much of the afternoon talking to two local policemen (Christian officers who were at the event), and they told us that all of those nasty critters live in Port St. Lucie, or as Karl (who apparently has played too many concerts in Missouri lately) called it from the stage, "Port St. Louie."
It was also great to meet Jeff Deyo, the former lead singer for Sonic Flood, and his praise and worship band, Christian comedian Cleto Rodriguez, and Bart Mazzarella and Bruce Douglas of WSCF-FM radio in Vero Beach, who also were on hand and on stage for the event. We look forward to our next trip to the Sunshine State.
