Darnell Cline Update & Prayer Request
Sat., Jun. 4. 2022 4:06pm EDT
We received the following update and prayer request Friday night from ApX fan Sonja Cline. As you may recall, her husband, Darnell, was hospitalized for four months in 2021 because of serious complications associated with COVID. He has been out of the hospital since September, and was initially doing well, but lately some new problems have surfaced:
Darnell has developed a pretty severe complication from last year's COVID. It started showing up around the end of October of last year, and it continues to get worse. He gasps for every breath and as as result, his endurance is so weak.
After a few tests on his lungs and throat, it appears that his larynx was damaged by the vent. It's doesn't stay open like it should and, as a result, it's like he's breathing thru a straw. The weird thing is that this didn't show up until months after the vent was removed. It makes no sense.
They are going to scope him on June 8 to check out the trach site. It's possible that there is scar tissue and it just simply needs to be removed and stretched. This is what we are hoping for. Darnell and I believe that his larynx may be normal for him and real culprit is the trach site. At least that's what we're hoping.
If it is his larynx after all, there's little they can do. This is a devastating turn of events after all he's gone through. They told him they may need to do a permanent trach and of course, that went over like a led balloon! So much prayer is needed here. I deeply pray God will have mercy.
With regards to myself, please pray God heals me and spares me a surgery. I've been struggling with bouts of severe abdominal pain, fevers and vomiting. Some tests show my gallbladder is swollen and my bile duct is blocked. They are going to scope me June 23. I really don't have time for this. Please pray God will destroy the devil's work here. A surgery will do way more harm to me than good (you'll have to trust me here).
The boys are doing really well. And we're all doing pretty well despite the current condition of this dismal economy. God is truly good. I love Him so deeply.
My voice teacher said I need to join the worship band at my church to get the experience I need. I've ask our worship leader and he says he'll get with me as soon as he can. Please pray I do well on the audition. I've been wanting to be a part of the worship team since early last year but COVID knocked that in the head, hopefully only temporarily, though.
Darnell and I have been listening to some of our old favorites from the early 1980s. Of course, you always come up in conversation. "I bet ApX could do that song or this song!" I declare we're a riot LOL. Anyway, he made me promise to ask you if you'd ever considered parodying the "Stars On 45" medley or "We Are The World."
We can imagine you and the girls singing all the different parts. I know people probably drive you crazy with these kinds of questions, but I promised him I'd ask. I hope you don't mind.
Well I'd better close for now, but would you please post this in your newsletter? We really do need prayer. I'd really appreciate it.
Please join us in praying for Darnell and Sonja. Thank you.
