Post-surgery Update from Karl's Wife, Deb
Mon., Sep. 26. 2005 10:58pm EDT
Here's a post-surgery update from Deb Messner, wife of ApologetiX lead guitarist/producer Karl Messner. It was supposed to be in last week's newsletter but mysteriously got cut off.
Hey everyone! Just wanted to thank everyone for their wonderful letters, emails, cards, gifts and (most importantly!) your prayers during the recovery from my leg surgery on Aug. 31st.
I am happy to report that the surgery was a success, and after 4 surgeries in less than 5 years to repair my badly injured right leg, it looks like this one may have been my last. :)
Praise God.... 2 weeks to the day after major nerve surgery I was able to walk (slowly!) across the room without my crutches, and I've seen improvement every day since. I'm actually looking forward to competing at my final horse show of the year at the end of October, and the doctor feels I should be back to running on my treadmill in about 6 weeks!
Thank you again for all of your thoughtfulness and prayers - I really appreciate it!
An extra special thanks to ApologetiX fans (and very good friends!) Wanda & Jerry Bush, and Heidi & Greg Micher, for taking such diligent and amazing care of me while Karl was out on the road with the band (after I came home from the hospital). And certainly thanks to my Mom & Dad (also ApologetiX fans!), who braved the worst of it in the hospital with me.
I am truly, truly humbled at all of your sacrifices too, so - thank you from the bottom of my heart. And certainly a very special thanks to Karl, for braving the last 9 years of injuries and surgeries and rehabilitation with me.... hopefully this will be the last of it!
~ Deb
