Please Vote for Us in the CCM Reader's Choice Awards
Mon., Oct. 3. 2005 11:48pm EDT
CCM Magazine just opened up the voting for its 2005 Reader's Choice Awards (See link below.) ApologetiX was voted Favorite Indie Artist in 2004, thanks to people like you who voted online. We'd love to win again, but not for the reason you might suspect.
CCM has long been the top publication covering contemporary Christian music. With all the major national labels vying for CCM's attention, it's hard for an independent band like us to get noticed, even though our CDs sell well, we play national festivals, and our songs hit the national charts.
The fact that we do parodies doesn't help, either. As former CCM Editor Matthew Turner told the Los Angeles Times in 2002, "It's a concept that is incredibly cheesy, but they do it really well."
Of course, we believe our parodies have something very important to say. If we win a Reader's Choice Award two years in a row, that really ought to catch CCM's attention. Are we looking for fame? No, but the more exposure we're able to get for our parodies, the more people we can reach and teach.
Last year, we weren't even listed as a choice for independent artist, but we won on write-in votes. This year, they've eliminated that category, and we're still not a choice for anything ... BUT there is a spot in each category where you can write in a vote.
If you have to pick one category to focus on, we'd suggest:
Category #22 (Most Underated Artist)
If you'd like to vote for us in additional categories, we'd suggest:
Category #1 (Favorite Band)
Category #5 (Favorite Artist)
Category #7 (Favorite Album - "New & Used Hits")
Category #20 (Favorite Live Performance)
You can vote in as many categories as you like but please submit only one ballot or you'll be disqualified. Thanks! Voting ends November 13. Here's the link:
