Prayers Request from Karl's Wife
Mon., Feb. 6. 2006 11:41pm EST
Here are two prayer requests and updates from Deb Messner, wife of ApologetiX lead guitarist/producer Karl Messner:
Hi there. Many of you remember some prayers requests that were included in the ApologetiX newsletter over the past year or so for my close friend Lorri Savage. Lorri was diagnosed with a very aggressive form of breast cancer in September 2004 at the age of 39, and has bravely battled both the breast cancer and bone cancer since then. We are all in awe of Lorri's strength and courage, and have appreciated all of your cards and letters for her while she was in the hospital, etc.
Lorri's 41st birthday is February 14th (Valentine's Day). Last year I was able to fly to Georgia to spend her birthday with her, but due to my recent ankle surgery, I'm unfortunately unable to go this year. Lorri is living at home with her parents right now, and has unfortunately become too weak over the past few months to get out of the house for much more than doctor's visits and treatments. I know Lorri really looks forward to getting mail, and was wondering if I could ask that you send a card or a letter or a birthday wish to Lorri if you can. Her address is:
Lorri Savage
727 King's Bench Drive
Hartwell, GA 30643
Please be sure to include in there that you got her address or heard her story through ApologetiX (or through me!) so she doesn't wonder why she's suddenly getting so much mail from "strangers." ;) Thank you so much for helping me make Lorri's birthday special - she will be thrilled to get some mail and cards on her birthday! Thank you so much! Your continued prayers for her brave struggle with breast cancer are greatly appreciated.
I also wanted to thank everyone for their prayers for my ankle surgery on January 25th. The surgery went well, although there was much more reconstruction to be done in there than we thought, and my doctor ended up reconstructing both the peroneal tendon and surrounding area around my ankle bone, as well we some ligament reconstruction as well. This was Surgery #5 on this ankle/leg, and we're all hoping that it was the last! I have been in a Steelers' black-and-gold cast for the past 2 weeks, and will have that removed and another cast put on tomorrow (February 7th).
I'll spend about 4 weeks in that cast, and then it's back to physical therapy for me to regain motion and use of that leg. I plan to be back in the horse show rings the last weekend of March with the miniature horses in SC, and hope to be back to running on my treadmill and riding our horses by June. Thanks to everyone for your prayers, emails, cards, etc. over the past few weeks - they have been a great source of encouragement to me! And also many thanks to the wonderful friends and family who have been helping with everything here at the farm while I'm recovering! God Bless! ~ Deb
