Urgent Prayer Request: Beth & Amy
Tue., Mar. 7. 2006 12:58am EST
Here's an urgent update we received Sunday night on Beth Behanna (our former drummer Fred Behanna's daughter), who has been battling Hodgkins Disease since 2000:
Beth went back into the hospital a week ago Sunday. It started with back pain that was diagnosed as liver failure and now her lungs seem to be filling up with the disease. She's on a full-face oxygen mask and has been for two days. Fred says Beth's liver was "highly compromised by the disease." She is in a private room on the Oncology Ward at Jefferson Medical Center.
Please pray for Beth and for Fred! Our lead guitarist, Karl Messner, spoke with Fred on Monday and Fred said there had been "slight improvement, but we still need a miracle."
On March 2, we also received an update regarding our friend Amy Bryant, a young woman who has been battling leukemia since 1998, as told to us by our mutual friend Jenn "Superchick" Kipp:
Amy had to spend some time in ICU this past week--she had an infection and some breathing troubles. They think they have the infection taken care of now, but she's still on a respirator and therefore can't talk. She's also on morphine, so when she tries to write notes instead of talking, they're sometimes pretty garbled and she gets frustrated trying to make herself understood.
She is now back in a regular room, but due to the time spent in ICU it's a different room--#7014 Her family has been taking turns staying with her overnight, so remember them too, as that and the driving back and forth from Reading to Philly are additional sources of stress and exhaustion for them.
If anyone would like to send a card, her address is:
Amy Bryant
3400 Spruce Street

Please pray for Amy, too!
