This Past Weekend in MI & OH ... and on TV
Mon., May. 1. 2006 10:36pm EDT
Continuing our quest to put the "again" in Michigan in 2006, we found a way to fit four concerts into three days this past weekend in Taylor MI, Saginaw MI, Midland MI, and Holland OH (which isn't too far from the Michigan). Yes, that's right; we snuck in a fourth concert on Saturday afternoon while most of you weren't looking. However, there's a good chance that a lot of other people will be looking ... or at least watching; that Saturday concert in Saginaw was for a television show called "TCT Alive," available to over 30 million people in 15 U.S. states and Canada.
TCT also takes the Gospel to over 170 nations throughout the world. TCT World broadcasts via global satellite systems to more than 100 million homes through direct-to-home satellite including Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Iraq and Iran, Australia, and many more. TCT is also available to millions of cable homes in India and the Philippines.
TCT Alive was one of the first programs ever produced by the station and presents well-know authors, speakers, singers, and ministries of all kinds in a magazine/talk format. This past Saturday, the entire show was an hour of ApologetiX; we were the hosts, the guests, and the featured artists. We played six songs live plus two other songs from our "Samson Comes Alive" DVD, and we also did four interview segments.

ApologetiX fan LaFon Jenkins was on hand for both the T.V. show and our concert in Midland later that night and she sent us this wonderful email describing her experience:
I was privileged to be able to attend the ApologetiX concert on TCT Alive - WAQP TV in Saginaw, MI. It was a rare opportunity to see the band setting up, making last minute changes, coordinating everything with the people at WAQP, and handling the technical difficulties. It was really special to see, all of the staff at the station form a circle with ApologetiX to ask for God's blessing. What a neat experience to witness the Lord answering those prayers with a calmness given to the band members in spite of the time pressures and the difficulties that came up during the session. In true ApologetiX style, humor was sprinkled in here and there to relieve some of the stressfulness of performing their songs and giving testimonies to a worldwide TV audience.
J. did a wonderful job sharing his testimony of how the Lord has worked in his life and how ApologetiX got started. Karl, who always makes an instant connection with any audience, did a super job of explaining the mission of ApologetiX as "reaching the lost and teaching the rest." One of the greatest things that ApologetiX is doing is encouraging young people (of all ages) to read their Bibles. Karl has a special e-mail address where you can send him an e-mail with the passage you read that day in the subject line. This is great motivator and an example of accountability rarely found today.
J. introduced the rest of the band and gave each one a few minutes to share. This was a special treat. Each member of ApologetiX plays a vital role in the overall performance of the band. Keith on bass guitar is sort of like the "base" or foundation of their music. The multi-talented Bill, who plays keyboard, guitar, and fiddle, also plays a vital part. The newest member, Jimmy on drums, brings much life and energy.
In addition to the concert at WAQP in Saginaw, I was able to attend the concert that evening in Midland. It was awesome! It is wonderful that all these talents are being used for the Lord. They demonstrate that you can be a Christian and have a whole lot of fun! Just as important as the concert itself is the time after the concert when the band members talk to people one-on-one or in small groups. On April 29, 2006, after a very long, exhausting day, that is just what they did. This is where you can see that these are "real people" giving of themselves for the cause of Christ.
J, Karl, Keith, Bill, and Jimmy - Keep up the good work!

And Saturday got even better after the show. Randy Reason, the man who coordinated our February concert in Oxford MI, presented us with a brand-new trailer for our equipment! He'd noticed how jam-packed our old trailer was earlier this year, and he decided to bless us with a much bigger one. What a huge blessing! Thank you so much, Randy, Tina, and all the rest of you Reasons!
Thanks also to:
our concert coordinators: Butch Kittle (Taylor), Jeff Andridge (Midland), and Bonnie Cornwell (Holland).
our merchandise coordinators: Micah (Taylor); Kerri, Becky, Stacy, Ben, Heidi, Rachel, Morgan, and Mary Beth (Midland); and Nancy and Marilyn (Holland).
our roadies: Micah Clausen (Taylor, Saginaw, Midland, and Holland), and Beth (Saginaw, Midland, and Holland), Chelsea (Saginaw and Midland), and Larry (Holland).
