1. APOLOGETIX IN EDINBORO PA THIS FRIDAY

We'll be in Edinboro PA this Friday, thanks largely to the hard work of Sandy "Vanilla Spice" McCann, who proved that you don't have to be a big-time promoter to have a successful concert. Here's an e-mail we just got from Sandy:

"I'm SOO excited! I really want to reach my fellow college students... and everyone else. Thank you for the posters! Thank you for your awesome witness! You will be talking to my radio station (WCTL) in the morning, thanks for that too! They, the morning guys you'll be talking to, LOVE you guys! Saw you last year in Conneautville and had a blast. Said it was the best concert they'd EVER been to! We've sold over 200 tickets so far and will be selling more. It's going to be a great show! Thanks again, Sandy (Vanilla Spice) <><"

3. WEEKEND IN NEW ENGLAND (WITHOUT BARRY MANILOW)

O.K., I know what your first question is: As Pittsburgh natives, are we bitter about the Steelers' loss to New England this past Sunday? No. It hurt, but it wasn't the first time we had to do a concert right after a Steelers loss in the Championship game. Keith (name shortened because of space constraints) and I consoled each other on the long drive back from Wisconsin, although he did give me a dirty look when I tuned in to ESPN 1000 in Chicago to check the final score on the Rams victory. Karl and Bill acted unfazed by the Steelers loss, but they are pretty much unfazed after every Steelers game ... and every other sporting event, for that matter.

And we had something great happen at the concert on Sunday night that helped take our minds off the loss. More on that in a minute.

But to show that we bear no ill will to the residents of New England, we are pleased to announce that we will be returning to the Inside Out Soul Festival in Loon Mountain NH, the premier New England Christian festival. We got a great response when we played there in 2000, and many of you said you missed us when we weren't there last year. Consequently, we'll be there two days this summer. Check the concert schedule below for more details.

4. SOMETHING AWESOME IN WISCONSIN

Do you want to know what really made Sunday's Steelers loss seem insignificant? It was our concert in New London WI that night. Rather than tell you about it ourselves, we're going to share with you this e-mail we received from Lynn Stiebs, the wife of the pastor who brought us to New London:

"Hi J. (& Guys), "Just sitting here praising God for His awesomeness. The concert (in New London) this past Sunday evening was so incredible. God is using you all to touch and change lives for Him--thank you for being willing vessels. You definitely are awesome examples to the young people. Bill & I were very impressed with your genuine love and kindness to each and every young person. The time you took, the undivided attention you gave, your patience, your giving, caring, loving attitudes, truly reflect Christ and all He is. We have heard alot of great things about you guys since the concert. EVERYONE thought you put on an awesome show.

"And the greatest thing is that 50 people gave their life to Jesus Christ that night!! We praise God so much for that. The funny thing is that we had a number of people come against us for wanting to bring you to N.L. (Imagine that?!!) Nothing against you guys personally--they just wondered how this small church could take on such a big undertaking. Our reply? Our God is way bigger than that. So sit back and watch what HE does. And they, as well as ourselves, were very much impressed with what HE did!! Praise God for His goodness! This is getting long -- I could go on and on ... I encourage you to keep your focus on Jesus, continue to make Him # 1 and exalt Him in all that you do, and sit back, hang on, and watch what HE is going to do for you! Love in Jesus :) Lynn (& Pastor Bill) Stiebs"

Isn't that awesome?

5. THE #1 SONG IN OKLAHOMA CITY

I just got an e-mail yesterday from Greg Griffin at KOKF 90.9 FM in Oklahoma City, OK, informing me, "You still have the #1 song on KOKF." I don't know what song it is, but KOKF sure has turned a lot of people in Oklahoma onto ApologetiX. We had fans from Oklahoma come to see us in Kansas two weeks ago, as a matter of fact. We are looking into doing a concert in Oklahoma City sometime in 2002.

6. NEW CD

If you have been following ApologetiX for any time, you probably realize that we are always working on a new CD. In fact, it's become a tradition for our Keith to ask me about the next CD the day after he completes his bass parts for the current CD! And, in truth, we do start thinking about the next CD while we're wrapping up the current one! There are so many more songs we want to do! Well, we already have a title and a proposed list of parodies (many of which are already written) for our next CD, but we're going to keep that information a secret for a little while. We just wanted to let you know it's in the works. Look for us to release two CDs this year, the one I just told you about plus a full-length Christmas CD.

7. SUPER BOWL SUNDAY

This weekend is Super Bowl Sunday, and that's a very special day to me. It was 14 years ago on Super Bowl Sunday that I turned my life over to Jesus Christ and became a born-again Christian. I told a newspaper reporter that piece of information yesterday, and he asked if it was after a devastating Steelers loss! No, it was actually before the Washington Redskins beat the Denver Broncos. And I really don't remember what led me over to that church ó I had been next door at my girlfriend's apartment for a Super Bowl party. But when I left that church I was a changed man. Oh, I can see God's hand in my life throughout all the years that led up to that moment, and I had alternated between religious and agnostic/hedonistic, but that single event ó with me pouring my heart out to God in an empty church right before a Super Bowl party ó that was the moment where there was no turning back. Once you see the truth you can't un-see it. I can't believe it's been 14 years already!

Romans 10:9
That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
