10.Autographed CD Sale

Thanks for all your prayers last week!

We got our van back from the shop yesterday, and it now has a totally reconditioned transmission to go along with the other things we've had to replace in the past couple weeks, including the thermostat, the radiator, the engine, the air conditioning, and other items. Why, it's practically a new van ... or to be more accurate, it's bionic, like the Six Million Dollar Man! Say, let's just call it the Six Million Dollar Van. With all the expenses we've incurred repairing it, that name gets more appropriate every week!

We won't put it to much of a test this week, because we'll be not too far from our home base of Pittsburgh on Saturday, and we fly to Oregon on Sunday. But next week, we'll drive it (God willing and the repair bills don't rise) to Darien Lake NY, Greenville MI and Phillipsburg KS. That ought to make a nice test drive! To help raise money for the expenses, we've extended our autographed CD sale. See section #10 below for more info.

Our luggage did indeed make it to us in Fargo ND in time for our performance at Spirit Fest Midwest in Detroit Lakes MN. This was our second appearance at Spirit Fest Midwest. The people there are all very nice and always willing and eager to pray, plus it's a very relaxed atmosphere. We had the honor of playing right before the Imperials, one of the legendary groups from contemporary Christian music's past. Not only did they have a ton of Christian radio hits in the 1970's and ë80's and spawn the careers of famous solo singers like Russ Taff, they also worked with Elvis Presley on his "How Great Thou Art" album back in the 1960's. Believe it or not, in the early days, ApologetiX even had a few of their songs in our repertoire, most notably "Eagle Song."

On a very tragic note, shortly before the show, we were given this note:

"To the ApologetiX - My six-year-old son Evan really enjoyed your songs. His favorite was "Baa! We're Lambs," followed by "Pray Now." Evan went to be with Jesus six weeks ago. Please play one of those songs for us today. Thanks! Connie Johnson and family"

We learned later that poor Evan had died after falling off a cliff into a river, making the news even more tragic, if that's possible. With three of us having kids who are about Evan's age, and Evan being an ApologetiX fan and his family in attendance, it was very difficult to carry on. We did play "Pray Now" and dedicated it to his memory, and we did get to meet his family and pray with them. His mom tried to keep her composure, but it was obviously very difficult. She said he used to play our songs and sit between the speakers to listen to them. Please pray for Evan's mom, dad and two siblings as they go through this very hard time.

Things in Bay City MI the next day went very well, as we celebrated WTRK's 10th anniversary. WTRK is one of a handful of Christian stations in the United States that actually plays Christian rock (not just adult contemporary or pop) 24/7, so it was an honor to be asked to be the band for this special event. Everybody treated us very kindly, and we had a lot of fun.

1. SATURDAY: INDIANA PA (J's Alma Mater)

Please note: We formerly had this incorrectly listed as simply Mack Park. It is at the Indiana County Fairgrounds, which is adjacent to Mack Park. See the bottom of this section for directions.

For you trivia buffs, ApologetiX first (and last) played at Indiana County Fairgrounds way back in '94 at a music festival called Joyful Jam, September 18, 1994. For you country music fans, ApologetiX lead singer J. Jackson once interviewed country music legend (and Dolly Parton's former partner) Porter Wagoner in his mobile home at a concert at those same fairgrounds, as an assignment for his senior internship with the Indiana Gazette newspaper.

J. went to college at the Indiana University of Pa. (I.U.P.) and graduated with a bachelors degree in journalism. I.U.P. holds many fond memories for J. It's the place where he became a born again Christian, and it's also the place where he first learned about the "apologetics," while reporting on a seminar by Christian apologist Josh McDowell for the university newspaper. You can read more about those experiences at http://www.apologetix.com/bio4.html or by going to apologetix.com and clicking on the picture of the tall blond guy :)

2. SUNDAY: ROSEBURG OR

Hey, this is now our only concert in Oregon this month (the Portland show was postponed until the fall), so it's your one chance to see us this summer in Oregon.

3. NEXT TUESDAY: KINGDOM BOUND AT DARIEN LAKE NY

This will be our fourth trip to Kingdom Bound in five years. It's always a great time! Please pray that it doesn't rain. It seems like it usually rains the day we play, either before or after or during, but God has always enabled us to play our entire set with a huge crowd in attendance.

See the guys at 4 p.m. at the Family Life Radio Tent, also!

And now, a word from our producer and lead guitarist, Karl Messner:

Karl's (Kingdombound) Korner

Thirty thousand feet over Fargo I had a great idea. Why not give you a heads up on something neat we're doing! At concerts, when we have time, we often pull some volunteers up on stage to sing, dance or shake their hair (don't ask). But when we play festivals, we often have very short sets, so we don't do that.

I thought it would be fun to try it anyway, so at Kingdom Bound in New York, next week, we've run an ad in the program. It has a puzzle, and if you're one of the first couple dozen folks to solve the puzzle, you can come on stage at Kingdom Bound in front of thousands of folks, and shake your hair to "All the Stalls Stink."

As a special perk to you, since you're in our fan club, we've posted that puzzle at a secret location on the site. Click the link below, print it out, do the puzzle, and where it says name and email, just put "Fan Club Member," since you're already in the club. Here's the link:

http://www.apologetix.com/singalong/

If you haven't been to Kingdom Bound, it's definitely worth the trip, from just about anywhere. We always bring our families, and you can mull around the awesome Six Flags Darien Lakes, and ride the rides with ApologetiX! (We're coaster nuts!) Hope to see you there!

4. NEXT FRIDAY: GREENVILLE MI

Yes, we liked Michigan so much this past Sunday that we are coming back less than two weeks later. Of course, it's 2.5 hours away from where we just played, in a different part of the state ... or should I say, "the hand," to which the people of Michigan often liken their state. Hope to see you there!

Sorry, this is event has been postponed, although I hear it will likely take place later this fall. Come see us this Sunday in Roseburg OR instead!

6. NEXT SUNDAY: PHILLIPSBURG KS

Have you ever noticed just how incredibly long a state Kansas? It's HUGE! And right smack in the middle of your United States map, there it sits. Although we played in Emporia KS a few weeks ago (and had our van's engine replaced, too), this concert is in the north central area of Kansas, slightly closer to the Colorado side of the state and fairly close to the Nebraska border.

10. AUTOGRAPHED CD SALE

You mean, we've been having this sale all this time, and you didn't know that I personally autograph ever single cracked CD we send out? That's right. It's our way of helping to make up for the cracks, although when I used to collect baseball cards and comic books, the last thing I wanted was somebody else's name written on one of them! :) But you guys seem to like them better that way.

We have a limited supply of CDs with cracked cases that we are selling at a greatly reduced price. All seven of our titles are available. All of the CDs and booklets are in perfect shape. The cases are in various degrees of disrepair, most are in near-perfect shape while a few don't even have cases, but all of them have the CD, the booklet and the tray card, so all you need is a CD case in good condition. As mentioned earlier, I will autograph all of the CDs to help make up for the broken cases.

For a limited time only, we are making them available to our e-mail subscribers for $7 each. We are also putting our remastered "Have Yourself a Parody Little Christmas" six-song CDs on sale for a limited time for $7 each.

Mail orders only. Sorry, no credit cards. Please make checks/money orders payable to ApologetiX.

Shipping & handling is a flat rate of $5 for your entire order, no matter how many you order.

Simply print out this e-mail and fill out the form below and send it in along with your check/money order to the address at the bottom of the order form.

We must receive your check/money order before we ship. Don't worry about contacting us by e-mail. Just send the form via postal mail and include your name and address.

Romans 5:3-5
Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.
