Wanna Help the Band?

We're often asked if we accept donations. Yes we do. Like other ministries, we have many expenses. Although the donations aren't tax deductible, they are immediately put to good use. If you'd like to donate, thanks.

J. Jackson, lead singer and lyricist for ApologetiX here.

"Method actors" live like their characters in order to get a more realistic performance. I don't really aspire to be a method lyricist/singer, but it's uncanny how often I'll be writing/singing about a topic for an ApX parody and will then find myself in circumstances that mirror the song.

It happened again recently when we recorded "Quite a God," and these lines echoed back at me: "I don't get anxious 'bout the bills I have to pay. Well, I get anxious but my mind knows God — Is my Father and provides through it all. Fussin' and frettin' – it's all in vain. Remembering Who is God's the only way to stay sane."

That's the way it's been for most of the past month and a half. Moreover, one of the songs on our upcoming single is about God providing manna every day for the Israelites in the wilderness. I don't want to quote lyrics to a song we haven't released yet, but it's a similar situation.

Every day I find myself praying we'll gather enough manna to take care of that day's needs. Of course, Jesus told us to pray "give us this day our daily bread." Unlike the Israelites, I don't really get tempted to grumble, but I do get tempted to worry.

Sometimes sports can be a pleasant distraction, but the only game in town right now is baseball, and for the past month and a half, our hometown Pittsburgh Pirates been going through one of the worst summer slumps I can remember, just like us.

Baseball has no salary cap, so there's no promise of future parity. And the guy in charge of the Pirates isn't known for providing additional resources. ApX does have a salary cap, but there's no promise of future parodies, either. However, the God in charge of ApX has shown time after time He'll give us what we need. And that's where my hope rests.

If you'd like to help with our current situation, here's how you can do that:

1. Pray
2. Get singles, CDs, DVDs, etc. at
http://apologetix.com/store
3. Get multiple singles for one donation at

4. Give online at http://apologetix.com/store/store-donate.php
5. Give by mail: ApologetiX, 208 Charlemma Dr., Pittsburgh PA 15214

Clues for Our Next Single
August 16, 2019, 7:10 pm EDT

Our 14th single of 2019 is scheduled to come out by the end of the weekend, Lord willing. You'll find your clues below. Think you know the artists we're spoofing? See if you can find all 20 references.

SONG #1
The Bible advocates avoiding arguments with fools, but sometimes a great notion is hard to live out in our weakest moments. Now more than ever, Christians are an easy target; we are the people they think are the crazy ones. When they say mean things, it hurts, so good people may lose their cool. The kid inside of you wants to fight back. Can you take it?

SONG #2
Israel's life in the wilderness wasn't easy or 100% fun. Neither is the Christian life, no matter how cool we say it is. The ugly truth is we're the same as they in doubting sometimes, but God provides food to all living things on Earth, whether we notice His divine intervention or not. He gave us our daily bread today, and He'll do it again tomorrow.

Once the new single is released, we'll announce it on our website and Facebook.

We currently have 131 other sets of downloads available for a donation of any size, including our previous release, "James" and "Quite a God," featuring parodies of Jefferson Starship and Sublime.

To get any of these projects, go to http://apologetix.com/store/singles.store.php#singles and select the download you want for whatever amount you wish to donate.

Mood-Altering Messages from 7 States/Provinces
August 17, 2019, 4:58 pm EDT

Seven days without encouragement make one weak. Thankfully, God has given us the greatest fans in the world. They lift us up in prayer and lift up our spirits. Here are seven mood-altering messages we've received since last week's newsletter:

Scott and I want to thank you for all the wonderful music and ministry that you all put so much effort into sharing with others. I often find myself looking up Bible passages that I hear in your songs and study them because you've made them interesting by your songs. May God bless you all!

Marsha Hockenberry
Pittsburgh PA

Because of your encouragement, we both read the Bible from cover to cover. Because of you, we are more outgoing as Christians. And because of your music, we smile even more.

Jeanne & Frank Marcello
Hemlock MI

Many of my family and friends are blessed by your music. That's why I buy extras. You have amazing talent, to write songs to fit existing music, and to mimic the styles of the original artist/bands. You are truly a gift from God. Thank you!

Rich Barrett
Sauquoit NY

Thanks for making music that's such a blessing in my life!

Dakota Catrett
Seffner FL

You guys rock!! (In more ways than one!) Keep up the great work, you are such a blessing to me!

Brent Waggoner
Sandborn IN

I am teaching an eight week Sunday School class on Creation vs Evolution and would like to play "Monkey Scheme" during an upcoming class. Is that OK? Thank you also for "redeeming" so many of the rock classics. I often smile when going through stores and hear a song and think "ApologetiX did this one." Music with a message. Great work!

Love the truth and humility (and humour) that permeates your ministry!! God bless!

More Prayers for Our Webmaster
August 17, 2019, 5:19 pm EDT

Please continue to pray for our webmaster, John Taylor. Although he was hospitalized two different times in July, John was doing reasonably well last week, but early this week he had to go back to the emergency room. He has since seen a gastrointestinal specialist for continued problems with vomiting (even after the removal of his gall bladder a month ago), but the doctors seem a bit perplexed as to the root cause.

John has had too many medical problems (including his eyes, kidneys, and other things) in recent years to go into detail about them all here. He never asks for anyone's pity, but we know he would appreciate your prayers. He has blessed us so many times over the years that the least we can do is to ask all of our fans to pray for him. And we know God will hear your prayers on his behalf.

While John is going through these trials, a few fans with the necessary skills volunteered to fill in for him as our webmaster. We are very grateful for that. Currently, Jeff Peters of Gainesville VA is handling the task. Jeff is a longtime friend of the band and coordinated concerts for us at his church for four consecutive years from 2012-15. Please pray for him, too.
