Build the Bus

We got more done than it seemed today, but a couple tool fiascos cost us big time. Original ApologetiX drummer, Jeff Pakula spent the day with us and says he’s coming back tomorrow! As did Rich, Marie, Larry, Beth, Brandon, Ted, Cameron, Ruth, Caitlin, Maggie, and Kevin!
Ceiling and wall finishing
Found a snake in our living room to start the day
Jeff helps finish the floor
Kevin provides the shade.
Rich tries to drill a board into Karl’s ankle
Jeff and Karl solve a flooring problem
All the while 2/3 of the new road cases we ordered showed up.
Floor’s DONE!
Let’s protect it with two layers of plastic and plywood to continue work.
Jeff and Maggie in the al fresco wood shop
The wall materials arrive
Floor’s protected
Leaving the plastic under any installed itmes for more insulation
Prepping the ceiling
Huge birds
Ceiling tile. Here’s where we stopped being productive. We glued it up..
and spent an hour tacking brads in before going to buy a nail gun
It took forever
But the nail gun we got had the wrong size nails. And we sent someone back
Right sized nails and it worked for two boards. It was awesome
Gun stopped working. We’re gluing and back to hammering
Pretty sunset over the farm
ditto
Home Depot is closed, but WALMART had a pneumatic nailer!
It leaks, but it’s getting the job done. Wed. we return other gun
THEN we mismeasure to the protective extra flooring and have to
start over after two boards are up. Ug.
Buses aren’t designed to do this- they’re not straight or square
AND since it’s parked on a slight grade, nothing is even plumb.
We called it at 2:30 am but all the pieces are in place for the morn :)
