No Bus, More Fuss
Wed., Apr. 13. 2011 12:10pm EDT
In case you missed it, our bus has been in the repair shop since last Monday, because it no longer has the power to climb hills or pull our equipment trailer.
Our mechanic says it needs a new turbo and some other parts (at least), and the cost for those parts is almost $3000. That doesn't include labor, and he isn't sure that's all we'll need. We really couldn't afford the repairs, but we didn't have any choice, and we believed God would provide. And He is doing that.
However, because the parts/repairs couldn't be guaranteed in time, we had to postpone this weekend's concerts. That left us with even less money to pay the many bills involved in keeping ApologetiX afloat. Plus, we'll lose an extra weekend this summer, because we'll be rescheduling concerts instead of scheduling new ones. That also set us even farther back in our trailer-replacement project.
Now, enough complaining. We need to take David's example from the Psalms and talk about our troubles and then give thanks and praise to God. He has always been so good to us, and we know He'll supply all our needs (Philippians 4:19). He has already been doing that mightily with an incredible initial response from fans to an email we sent out earlier this week. Thank you and praise Him!
One good thing that comes from us not playing this weekend is that our mechanic will have more time to make sure the problem is fixed. Next weekend, we're off for Easter, and the following weekend, we're flying to our concerts in Utah, Idaho, and Colorado. So we now don't need the bus to be in working order until May 6.
Once the bus is fixed, we hope to get to concerts faster and get better mileage. Right now we get about 5 miles per gallon, and diesel costs more than $4 per gallon, and that's been killing us. It cost us almost a dollar a mile when we travel. The bus itself is a blessing, and we're thankful for it. It just needs repaired, not replaced.
We only ask that you would all pray for us. Please do not feel pressure to help financially. We know times are tough, and God has given us many fans and friends, and He always provides.
