Gone Too Soon: ApX Crew Member Greg Micher
Fri., May. 3. 2019 2:35pm EDT
J. Jackson, lead singer and lyricist for ApologetiX here again.
I'm sad to report the recent passing of another beloved former member of the ApX crew, Greg Micher, who died suddenly on April 21 during emergency open-heart surgery. He was only 53.
Greg occasionally ran sound for us and was always willing to help with whatever else was needed at the concerts he attended, mostly in the 2000's, including some road trips with the band.
His children (Logan, Lauren, Conlan, and William) also attended many concerts during that time. Our condolences to them and to the love of his life, Lisa, and to his mother, Nancy.
Although Greg and his family moved to Kissimmee FL in the early 2010's, he came to see ApX play in Florida afterward. He and Lisa also attended our 25th anniversary concert in Pittsburgh in 2017.
I also visited with Greg when he returned to Pittsburgh for his father's wake and funeral a number of years ago. I never dreamed Greg would follow him so soon.
Ironically, as I was driving my daughter Kelly to a dance last night, my GPS took me directly past Greg's old house.
Greg still kept in touch with us with occasional calls and texts. We last saw him and Lisa at Keith's daughter Sarah's baby shower last fall, although we'd heard from since then. He will be missed.
