Last Weekend in Minnesota & Wisconsin
Mon., Jul. 18. 2005 12:44pm EDT
Thanks to everybody who came to see us in Minnesota and Wisconsin this past weekend during our trio of late-afternoon festival concerts at Sonshine (Willmar MN), Eyota Days Festival (Eyota MN, near Rochester), and Paperfest (Kimberly WI). It was our fourth appearance at Sonshine, our first at Eyota Days and our second at Paperfest.
As you may know, because there are usually a number of artists on the bill, time slots at festivals usually range from 30-45 minutes per artist. Not this weekend. We went from 45 minutes (12 songs in rapid succession) at Sonshine to two hours at Eyota Days (16 songs with more onstage antics and audience participation) to a whopping three hours at Paperfest (28 songs in two totally different sets)!
Special thanks to ApologetiX superfans Pamela "Don't Call Me Pam" Mathey, Chris "Don't Call Me Kris" Christopherson and Jeff "Don't Call Me Collect" Caswell, who each came to all three concerts and helped with the merchandise table. Jeff, a guitarist who has shared the stage with Joe Walsh and Ted Nugent and has shared our parodies with Nugent, Kid Rock and Jimmy Eat World, came all the way from Arizona by way of Michigan.
Honorable mention to Tim, Julie, Timothy and Hannah Falarksi, who journeyed from Pittsburgh PA (where they've already seen us in concert) for the Saturday show in Minnesota and the Sunday show in Wisconsin (Julie requested it from Tim as her birthday present, believe it or not), as did Minnesota natives Jon, Carol and Missy Eklof, who have now attended a combined total of about 90 concerts (about 30 per person).
Jon has seen us in 11 different states, although he'd seen us in Minnesota and Wisconsin before. Superfan Beth Davis, however, made her first trip to Minnesota on Friday, notching her eleventh state and thirtieth concert. Not be outdone, Chris Christopherson bested Beth by one by weekend's end -- 31 concerts in 12 states. Riding shotgun with Chris for the entire weekend was Pamela Mathey, who has now seen us in 35 concerts in four states.
Even more importantly, Pamela has now completed eight complete trips through the Bible, a reading plan she started at Karl's suggestion after her second ApologetiX concert in Janesville in June 1999. You go, girl!
