This Past Weekend in AL & GA
Mon., Oct. 10. 2005 3:03pm EDT
Southern hospitality was in plentiful supply this past weekend for our trip to Alabama and Georgia. Then again, maybe everybody was just in a good mood because the Crimson Tide and the Bulldogs are undefeated. We understand, seeing as our Penn State Nittany Lions also have a perfect record.
But, seriously, there were plenty of Auburn and Georgia Tech fans in those crowds, too, just as we also have Pitt fans in the band, and they were really nice, too. Actually, as sacrilegious as it may sound, we have people who root for both Pitt and Penn State to do well. We're not sure if there are any fans in Alabama or Georgia who root for both Alabama and Auburn or Georgia and Georgia Tech, unless they're mothers who have kids at both schools.
We played a festival doubleheader -- God-Stock in Gadsden AL (near Birmingham) on Saturday, and Four Nights in October in Peachtree City GA (near Atlanta) on Sunday. It was the fourth year for both festivals, and our first year at God-stock and third year at Four Nights. We hope to return to both festivals next year, too!
Special thanks to Superfans of the South, Wanda and Anne, who always seem to come to our rescue when we're anywhere within a day's drive of their home bases in Georgia and Alabama. This time around they not only ran the merchandise tables for us at both events; they also acted as our chauffeurs.
Wanda and Anne are both mothers with five post-adolescent kids between them, so we're not sure why they've chosen to adopt five perpetually adolescent kids like us, but we're sure glad they did!
